Suzuki GR650 - back to work...

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

I don't think so- it was coming from the left side on the highway. So it was blowing back underneath my leg and spraying the chain guard. Should have taken it off and claimed to invent a new chain oiling system!

The K&N I used is great. It is about the same price as a single K&N but filters for both carbs. Originally I found out about it on the GSTwins site.

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

She's definitely looking good Rich!

And I just noticed... that's a 450E/S tank you have on there, good stuff. I was wondering how it would look with the knee dents painted like that, so now I know ;)

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

She's a beauty Rich, but I know you already know this. Us DTTers should just all live in one location. I hate seeing everything here and not being able to meet up in person. Damn this country's size!

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Yep Pete- the more I look at the factory paint, the more I want to add to my tank. Maybe just a couple small pin stripes or something. Winter will be here too soon, I'm sure.

Thanks Chris! Glad you like it. The whole bike is in its "pretty enough to ride" phase. It will be getting some minor/major changes in the off season. Mostly getting the seat 100% finished, cleaning up some loose ends, etc. The big thing will be........ a fairing. Something that fits with the rest of the bike but is easy enough to take on and off for the hottest periods of the summer.

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Right now I'm thinking silver in the knee dents with the maroon like it has now and a pair of silver stripes... in fact I'm about to put some GIMP work up on my thread in a minute so you can see what I mean, although you won't see the stripes real well in this one...

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Sure thing buddy. I had to ride it in the rain the other day and PennDOT was nice enough to put oil and chips down on my road- so the bike needs cleaned badly. But once I wash it, I'll snap a couple pics.

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Oh I can so relate to THAT! Monday they put down new chip-n-seal (fresh tar and peagravel) on my route while I was at work. Fine going in but HELL coming home... took two mornings before I remembered to take the alternate route!
::)

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Ha! Von came out this morning on his "new" RD200. I wanted to be sure to tell him about the chips. There were absolutely no signs up anywhere that they were going to lay them down.

Oil and chips?Sounds like a bad party snack. Our area sprays down pea gravel mixed in an oily tar like substance. Is this the same thing?

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Yeah, same thing. Different terminology I suppose.

Either way, it sucks. I've never heard of it doing anything good. The thing that burns me up is the lack of warning signs. Just cruising along the BAM! You're on oily gravel.......

Happen to me this weekend on some twisty mountain roads at dusk.I run Shinko 005 Advanced tires, and they were slinging those little rocks every where. They were shoot up and hitting me in the knees, loer legs, and helmet. My GF was behind me in the truck and told me they were flying off my back tire like a rooster tail.I live off I-26 in the northern most part of Spartanburg county. They ground up the interstate and they sprayed oil down.the entrance and exit ramps are like driving on ice.Bad thing is,they didn't sweep before spraying oil so it's like riding on rutted gravel laden ice.It sucks out loud.I'm writing my congressman. :o

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

I'm gonna get the other GR done and just ride the grassy shoulders......

:D

Can you do that up there? We get in all kinds of trouble down here for doing it.

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Somehow I doubt it. Especially since it would be through peoples yards.

Although the police around here kinda turn the other cheek to motorcycles........Nah, I better not even try.

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Rich, I'll have your manifolds wrapped up probably monday, just for final reference sake: I'm doing them for the CV carbs right?

I live out in the country so we actually have miles of areas that have nothing on them.Even then the state or county claims so much for right of ways that peoples property actually ends before it even get to the roadside.I live in the some what bassackwards state of SC.

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

loving that intake set up, and have to say, the tail has really grown on me! i am diggin git

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Ok, little later than I'd wanted but they're wrapped up, I'll get'm out to you as soon as possible. Oh.....how long are the studs in the head? The flanges are 10mm but I could cut'm down to maybe 8 before running into trouble. If they need to be thinner than that I'll back cut'm and drop an insert in. Lemme know mate...
