TX500 build

ya... i am going to machine somehting for that.. i just need to have what is on there last me about 35 miles so i can just ride it into my buddies shop... wiht my rebuilt front brake i should have no problem getting there!
thanks for the ups guys... getting close!

I really dig the white powder o the clip ons and front end it really does bring the bike together and brings out the polish work on your brake caliper. I think the engine should stay the way it is its really freaking good work ad it stands out reall good.

ok... must confess... did not do ANY wire work yesterday... it was 65 here so the girl and i went for a ride, got back did a bit more body work on the tank i am working on for MN_TX650... and went to the tat guy for another session...

ok... another ? for you then... there are still some spots that need to be "touched up" where there are waves in the glass or spots that need to be sanded a bit smoother... any tips on this? maybe a glazing after i wet sand them before the 2nd coat? i am just a bit lost on how to do the glaze... thanks for all the help!

From the pics I've seen so far Bro your seat pan looks very smooth to me. I think it's more of a "craftsman is never pleased with the perfection of his work" dad used to say that. The metal guys are never happy with those matching front fenders on the hot rod they just built from scratch it's just the way that is, total perfection is for robots. Have someone off the street take look at your work and u'll see they will say "it's done perfectly" even though you'll never agree. Freaken great job man.

got the neoprene for the seat last night! HELL YA it is perfect! got it from a local guy 1/2 in thick, black, 2ft by 2.3ft square... 16 bucks! can not beat that!!! it was like 10 bucks and 6 to ship it... it is perfect! the girl even sat on it and was amazed how nice it was... got to figure out how I am going to glue it down still...
other ? is... MAN the clutch is still stiff! I can pull it in, but while she was sittin up there last night she tried and could nto get it to budge! any ideas? it is not making any crazy hoops or loops, no major bends!... i dont know whats up on this... i am going to look to see if I have any extra's laying around in my boxes of parts... be nice if one of the harley clutch cables i have like 30 of will fit... ha ha ha ha YA RIGHT!
wonder if i can mill out the perch to make it work though... may have to look at that again! pics to come later... i have a tank to finish up!

You can glue the foam with contact cement. I use 3M Super 77 spray adheasive. Lightly scuff both surfaces to be bonded. Clean with min spirits (caution cleaning the foam) Spray both surfaces and let set up. Once both surfaces start to look white (5-10 mins) should be ready to put them together. Make sure you get them where you want. Watch over spray. stuff is a bitch to clean.

You can't put HD parts on these metrics. The bike would never be right again. It will give you nothing but problems! Everytime you park it it will leak oil etc...Hahahahha. Just pulling you chain. Sorry, can't help ya on the clutch. Hope you're off finishing that tank... Troy

will do just that!
ha ha ha ha SAD PART IS SO TRUE!!!! (on the harley comment)
usually when my buddies try to bust my balls on it i just say i can not hear them over their lawn mowers :) trust me i come from a HUGE harley and chopper family... my uncle walked into my shop and saw the cafe on the table... just kept saying ANOTHER RICE BUILD... what the hell is wrong with you!!!! funny part was... HIS HARLEY WAS IN THE SHOP!!!!! ha ha ha ha ha... he felt much better when he saw the triumph bobber build in the back... did not have the heart to tell him that it was a twin, only a CB350 twin... my dad just kept laughing... said, "guess you can tell it was me that turned the wrenches on his chops when we where younger huh son" ha ha ha ha
everyone in my family rides... it is awesome... our easters look like a bike show with all the bikes lining the streets! we even have people pull over to check them out thinkin it is a bike show!
ill scan some of the chops my dad built in the 70's and 80's some SICK rides... he was even able to chop the frame on a in frame oil triumph.... was told it was impossible, so he bought the bike rode it home, cut it in half and said, lets see how impossible it is! love that shiz!

maybe the clutch will loosen up a bit once you start riding it? I know my TX had some goofy clutch issues when I first resurected it. After about 10 miles, it ran smoove as can be

I think MN_TX650 is right on the clutch, when I first got my bike back out of the basement the clustch was hard to pull, really hard, it was also creeping really bad, I was worried but I took it around the block for a few minutes in 2nd, pullled, shifted up, down, 10 mins later I had to re adjust because the clutch had loosened up quite a bit and went from creeping in gear to slipping. After about 50 miles it is dialed in good.

cool then i will not fuss wiht it... after all if i need to swap out the clutch cable that is an easy job. thanks guys! MN... i sent you a pic of htat tank when i opened up the oven... looking good!

hellz yeah it looks good! You do killer work my friend. I'll hold off posting any pictures in the forum until you are happy with the end result. Had to share the picture with my bro from the VTX club though ;D
