UPcoming locO project...

Wow! I can't believe you guys did this in one day. Looks great so far. It's gonna look sweet with the white walls and spoke wheels.

Don't forget somewhere to plant your feet.

Oh yeah.. not to mention headlights to see with, kickstart to start the bike with and tail light to not get pulled over with... ;D
Here are some of the perefferials that will be on the bike Tuesday...

Headlight:

Its amazing what you can find at the Sunday Antique Market at St. Lawrence Market...
I found a pair of vintage bike pedals made by Phillips in England: $8

great work man! great work!!! man i wish I had some help, that is awesome to knock out so much in one day

yeah.. its a whole lot of fun when a bunch of the guys get together and do a build...

Not much progress today... stripped off the rest of the needed parts off the donor bike.. Poor bike.. its now nothing but a skeleton of its past glory...

;D

Actually another DTTer is pickin up the frame to make it into a hard tail.. so it might get resurrected in the near future

Hmm..That frame looka familiar...Oh wait...It's mine (well I still gotta cash out Loc0 for it). Must not buy any more projects, must finish at least one bike first, gaaah! Anyways, gotta have a Cafe Racer AND a Bobber to make life complete. Well...Maybe a BMW touring bike too. Already got ideas for the XS650. Going old school with metal flake paint, upswept pipes, springer fork and modest size ape hangers.

I have the same box! I use it for my art supplies. Maybe that's why I get weird looks at school... ::)

hahaha.. yeah.. you'll be ok with that box at school AS long as you dont carry around something that remotely looks like a machine gun ;D

I love where this is going! Are you going to drill speed holes in the mags?

no.. no.. actually.. I want this build to be done quick and dirty.. this bobber is going to be a "service" bike of sorts..
A functional quick build, ride the SHIT out of it.. a down and dirty bike...

all the real cool shit will be on the Triumph build...

So.. A bit of work done on the bike today:
1. welded screws to the frame for the foot pegs
2. adjusted the brake pedal pivot shaft for the rear brake
3. welded vintage foot pedal to the kickstarter
4. mocked up tank for the tank mount

Tony's like.. WTF??!!.. looks crazy leoN !!..

Next stop:
- weld the tank mounts
- weld the steering stop
- weld the battery box on to the frame
- Weld the rear brake stay tab
- weld bracket for the tail light
- wire up the bike
- install battery and chain
- Fire it up...

then move on to the Triumph project...

more progress on the bike today....

- Welded tabs for tha battery box
- Welded tabs for the rear brake stay and put together the rear brake assembly
- Welded steering stops
- Cut the mufflers of the exhaust
- Reinforced the side stand mount

IMG_0223.jpg

Now the exhaust... We cut the headder pipes off and trying to decide how to postion them...
Option 1, have the headers turned off to the right and dump just in front of the engine:

IMG_0213.jpg

IMG_0214.jpg

IMG_0215.jpg

Option 2, have the headders pointed inwards and dump just infront and below the motor:

What do you guys think?

Last bit of welding that needs to be done:
- tank mount and support
- bracket for rear tail light
- tabs for steering dampner.. (it needs it bigtime!!)

Then wiring... Almost done!!..

More progress today on the build...

1. Welded the BSA tank mount/support. The problem is that the BSA tank sat flat on the engine mount and therefore an additional "spine" had to be made to hold up the tank:

IMG_1104.jpg

2. Welded a mount to hold the rear tail/brake light:

3. Vintage carbide lamp mounted:

nice build. I am liking the tailight, mirror tank, pretty much the whole looks of the bike.

Great work!

Thanks Gents...
Im still not sure what I want to do wtih the exhaust yet...

i like it all! love the new tank rails man... but i have to say i am not sure if that is the right seat, toooooo bulky for the cut and clean lines. personally i would gut the pan and add a small piece of carpet insulation and re wrap it. get that sucker thin and clean. bottom line is the bike is not being build for comfort. what you going to do wiht the rear fender? looking good man

Actually yeah.. I've been having the same thoughts about the seat.. I might just do that... regarding the rear fender, Im just gonna keep it fenderless!!.. ;D

Still havent decided what Im gonna do with the pipes..l but check this out:
I found a vintage 30's bike brake light for $5.00

I gutted it and modified another cb750 rear brake/taillight assembly:
