Velocity stacks?

Rubbish. Honda and others incorporate stacks inside the airbox to improve flow into the carbs as it leaves the still air chamber (plenum) that the filter sits in. A well designed airbox not only provides a place to put the filter, but acts as a plenum chamber and silences things.

A well designed velocity stack ( as supplied inside that air box) improves airflow by 2-5% and a bad one drops flow by up to 10%

True story. BOTH of the magnas I own and all Honda magnas produced use velocity stacks INSIDE the air box. It has a plenum with a large filter above it to filter for all 4 carbs and velocity stacks over each carb... I'm 90% sure that all honda VFR engines use the same technology. They are some beasts of engines also. 750cc models putting out over 80hp. I think the 1100cc VFR engines put out over 110hp. I don't see a setup like that hindering the performance.

That's not the only company making them either. They make them to fit on the opposite side against the carb body as well to "hide" them... Velocity stacks do look cool but an unfiltered one on a daily rider or hell even a weekend rider, rather than a regularly rebuilt track bike is just begging to destroy your engine... One gravel road and you're rebuilding everything... If you're going to do something though I would stick to the same exact thing for all the carbs. It is a not fun even for a pro to tune in carbs with all different intake/exhaust. Even then you probably won't have the same performance through the entire rpm and throttle range.

I was thinking of stacks that curve around the frame so they're forwards facing creating some forced induction.

In a small way similar to triumph's speed fours intake snorkels
