  • I was getting the cam messed up in my head with another points system I timed recently for a friend
  • Jan 17, 2019, 11:03:00
  • Maritime:
  • Ok, I just looked again at timing instructions and the came has lobe 180 apart and so there has to be magnets 180 apart
  • Jan 17, 2019, 11:02:00
  • Maritime:
  • Shit, I need to look again LOL

  • fires 1&3 then 2&4, then 1&3 then 2&4 again every other time the oposite cylinders fire

  • irk miller:
  • If it's lost spark, then it would have two magnets.
  • Jan 17, 2019, 10:57:59
  • Maritime:
  • But when I think of how the bike fires with points being lost spark, the Cam lobe only activates one set of points at a time so a single magnet makes sense
  • Jan 17, 2019, 10:57:08
  • Maritime:
  • OK I google inmaged it. My rotor is smooth all around, you can't see the magnet, but I see in others it shows as a slightly different black circle, I'll look again to make sure under better light tonight and confirm
  • Jan 17, 2019, 10:53:31
  • Maritime:
  • Hmm, not sure I get it, the box has the backing plate, with 2 adjustable pickups and one black rotor that goes on the cam, didn't test if it was magnetic but I was guesing because it is slotted and has a triangle it was the magnet
  • Jan 17, 2019, 10:51:28
  • irk miller:
  • Thanks, Mike.  The magnets are a 1/2" diameter round magnet.  Should be pretty obvious.  Good to know there is only one.

  • Irk, I sent a note about the Dyna. the rotor has one little mark on it and I assume that's the magnet. I can't tell if there is another 180 deg from it
