    Headlight not drawing power

I think you provided your own answer. the depressed start disconnects the headlight connection. the fact that this is always on suggests that the headlight disconnect is always on, even if you have removed the starter from the circuit

    Headlight not drawing power

sorry error there - should read that after the fuse it comes up the harness on the brown/red.

    Headlight not drawing power

does the brown and red wire going to the left hand controller have current? does the black and red from the right controller draw current? The right hand main head light switch effectively connects the black live feed to the black/red leaving the controller. This then goes through the fuse...

    converting idiot lights to LED

you might also need to consider diodes for the indicators, if you are intending on sharing an LED for both left and right flasher.

    CB550K3 wiring harness on CB550F2 (77)

I have swapped it out. very easy, all the plugs fitted and the ease of connecting the new controllers/switchgear into the headlight bucket as opposed to bullets under the tank made it much easier.

LEDS replacement to idiot lights/HUD - diode trouble?

does the starter increase the voltage on the blk live circuit?

LEDS replacement to idiot lights/HUD - diode trouble?

The LEDs do have a resistor at the base of the +ve terminal. Not sure what the resistor is though as it is all sealed. They are hooked up correctly in the circuit that I am clear the +ve side. With the ones that are blowing - the neutral safety, I am a little confused. I had the blk lead...

LEDS replacement to idiot lights/HUD - diode trouble?

sorry, should say. this is a UK CB550F, but using a CB550K3 harness

LEDS replacement to idiot lights/HUD - diode trouble?

I have replaced by standard bulb idoit lights with some 12v LEDS in a plate bolted to where the handlebars used to work. I have a single LED for both indicators. This is working fine, but I get both indicators flashing at once. I have some diodes coming to sort that out. Head light main...

CB550 head light wont work and other electrical gremlins

fixed the headlight issue. after taking the switch apart and check continuity of the switchs, it turns out the the black feed to the controller, which was meant to be the main power in, was actually the light green side of the horn and the 12v into the controller was actually the white and...

CB550 head light wont work and other electrical gremlins

Hi All, I have recently changed out a trashed CB550F 77 UK harness for a much neater CB550K3 77 harness as part of a build. I have replaced the controls for a single modern control unit, the head up display with LEDs and a new push start button mounted away from the hand controls All was...

    CB550 Cam Chain tensioner install

Rebuilding my Cb550F 77 and am at the stage of putting the jugs back on. They fitted down flush fine, but when I backed them off 20mm and installed the tensioner, they won't sit flush anymore. The tensioner seems to prevent the last 4mm of travel. Also, when it is down the tensioner doesn't...

    CB550K3 wiring harness on CB550F2 (77)

Hi All, I have a 77 CB550F and the wiring harness is a mess, with so many dodgy connections and scotch blokes with new wire going nowhere. I was going to spent hours rationalising and cleaning, but have come across a wiring harness for a CB550K3. Looking through the manual and there are...

CB550F Head damage - is this normal?

could be 374 instead of 574, no markings on the top of the piston. 12 on the rear of three of the pistons, 11 on one. They are Honda stamped pistons.

CB550F Head damage - is this normal?

Dark in the garage, but it looks like 574 on the front part of the crown of the piston, 12 on the back
