Prefered method for removing drive sprocket bolt w/ o impact

If you mean drive sprocket nut...Have a friend hold your rear brake, put your breaker bar on it and whack the handle with a hammer. Or borrow a friends or neighbors impact driver. You HAVE to get a impact driver (not an air wrench). Ive had a cheepo (under $20) for years. It is a must for...

Old motorcycle weight reduction and redesign using modern knowledge

Thanks for the incouragement. Ive been getting alot negetive feelings about the air forks idea. I do appreciate the concern tho. I think the biggest thing to worry about is stiction if anything. Wearing out abnormaly quickly and leaking is VERY possible. The bottom seal is big and in a very...

Old motorcycle weight reduction and redesign using modern knowledge

Progress on the cb750... lightenend the front brake pistons. (Complete waste of time.... they are about half their weight now.) The stock ones are ungodly thick. Why? I dont know. Ive had pistons out of modern calipers and they are quite thin. So, im giving it a try. Ive got plenty of spare...

NOS CB750 4 into 4 chrome turnout drag pipes

nope they are open. My brother has used these and he drilled a quarter inch hole in the bottom rear of the pipe and bolts a piece of flat in them. He bends them up a little for back pressure. They end a bit past the heels. The inside pipes are about 3 inches longer than the inside ones. To be...

    1975 Cl360 Problems

Have you set your valves too? If they are tight you will run ok until it gets warm then the valves wont seat. When your valves dont seat compression goes down and will run poorly. Just a suggestion. It has happend to me.

How to look over an old engine

If it seems sticky turning over at first there are some stuck rings which may require disassembly...or your favorate ring releasing fluid might work. Diesel fuel, liquid wrench, WD...... To check compression just take a 12 volt battery a compression guage and a friend to the engine. Jump the...

    cb 500 brake caliper problem

I agree. You must take the seal out and clean the grove out with picks and toothbrush. After time and moisture that old fluid starts to brak down and turn into a browinsh grainy goo. When it get under your piston seal the stuff cant get out so it pushes your seal tighter than what it should be...

    cb 500 brake caliper problem

If its like a cb750 caliper (I think its pretty much the same) that hollow pin is a roll pin and just keeps the puck in place. You should be able to just pull it out by hand. It must be jammed with dirt. Since your going to clean out the caliper just pump the piston and the puck out at the same...

    Suzuki GS550 or Honda CB550?

That is a though one. GS is faster. CB Classic style. Both handle good. Parts availability should be good for both. They were both good sellers. Id say either way youd be making a good choice.
