I'm interested in making a hydraulic slave cylinder for my TriBSA. I have a lathe but I'm unsure how to go about the job, how did you get a smooth surface for the bore of the cylinder and what clearance do you need between the cylinder and bore?
BTW are you in the UK? I'm based in Cheltenham.
Re: Re: Norton / Harley Ironhead Cafe Project.. Build thread
I don't know what steel is used for your frame but the original manx featherbed frames used Reynolds tubing and Reynolds recommended gas bronze welding over welding because the heat from welding adversely affected the properties of...
Re: Recommended - UK
FWIW I use Griff's Reality Motoworks in Bristol for powder coating and wheel building.
Steve at Red Max has always been helpful with Streetracker parts I assume he's the same with the Cafe parts he sells.
I tend to get stainless fasteners from Steve's Stainless at every...
Apologies for late response....
Not sure at the moment, priority is to get the TriBSA project finished. At this stage I'm just trying to find out if there is anyone in the UK doing tanks who won't give me the run around so if/when the `not a project Sporty' becomes the `project sporty' I'll...
Noticed a couple of posts on other topic regarding tank fabrication.
Finding a reliable tank fabricator has been a real bugbear of mine, I tried to order from the Tank Shop and gave up after a year of being told `next month'. Pete at Custom Tanks and designs had the decency to say up front he...
I had hoped to meet up at some of the Wednesday meets but my `not a project' `daily driver' sportster blew a hed gasket at the beginning of the summer and a combination of lack of time and `while it's apart I may as well.....' has kept me off the road since.
Hopefully I'll get the Sporty fixed...
Well if you want to see more of the build there is always my blog, http://tribsa.blogspot.co.uk/. I'll warn you though parts of it are rather dull as it's as much a record for myself as an edited highlights IYSWIM
I suppose I should put something on here....
The pipes are standard high level push over exhausts. The silencer is an after market pipe for a Husqvarna TE610, I used it because I had it lying around. In a stroke of luck the manifold fitted the Triumph pipes with no modification. Aboutthe only component on the bike that didn't need...
I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do to the Sporty, I'm currently limiting myself to doing stuff on it that doesn't take it off the road. So far that has been
installing some Biltwell Tracker bars
reverting to mid controls
removing the chromed tat the previous owner installed
replacing...
Quick intro,
I live in Cheltenham UK.
I'm coming to the end of a rather long build of a TriBSA street tracker.
The first photo shows the bike in a previous incarnation the second is a bit more recent.
I keep a record of what I've been doing on the bike here.
