I've read on here that fibreglass eats/melts some foams. Just wondering if 2 pack epoxy resin eats away at the dense closed cell foam used in camping sleeping mats. Thanks
I have had a problem with my gn250 running rough for a while. It will idle ok but when i turn the headlight on the idle speed drops by about 1000 rpm. I tracked it down to the regulator/rectifier and replaced that about 2 months ago. Now the problem has started again so i checked the new...
I'm sure its idiot week here in nz. So far this week i've had 5 close calls. 3 of them i had to do emergency stops to avoid cars going the wrong way down a one way street and the other two were for pedestrians who prefer the middle of the road over the footpath. Anyway just need a rant.
Since...
So the mighty gn has taken up smoking and using oil. Does anyone know how these usually wear? Can i get away with a hone and new rings or am i looking at a oversize piston?
This is from a cage rebuild. I challenge one of our resident engine builders to do a video like this for a bike.

I'm a Dumbass.
I think i put my new fork seals in backwards. Does the flat side face outwards and the side with the flange and springs go towards the oil?
Noob question here. I've got my forks reassembled and ready for oil. When i put the oil in do i pump the forks a few times to get oil past the damper rod before measuring the level? The manual doesn't say.
Bike is gn250.
Mornin' all.
I'm changing the fork seals and oil on my bike and was wondering the effects of using different weight fork oils. The bike is a suzuki GN250, I'm 115kg/250lb and the roads I ride on are bumpy from earthquakes.
To me the forks feel underdamped but I don't know what weight oil is...
I live in Christchurch New Zealand where we have had a lot of earthquakes over the last 2 years. Because of the quakes many of our roads are in bad condition with holes, bumps and cracks. Some of the cracks and bumps are parallel with the road.
I ride a Suzuki GN250 as a commuter for getting...
Hi all.
I've just started my bike again after almost 3 years in the shed. It will run and idle with the choke (enriching circuit) on and idle normally once warm but if I open the throttle it dies (doesn't matter if choke is on or off). I can get it up to around 4000rpm with very small slow...
Hi all.
I'm cleaning up my old bike and the one last job to do is paint the pipes and can with high temp rattlecan.
The pipes and muffler are badly pitted with rust on some areas with smooth chrome remaining in other areas. There is pretty much no way I will get a smooth finish with the...
