Cleaned up some other pieces of the frame I cut off that Im going to repurpose and use. Going to try and get a set of Shinko 705's to fit. I have to check the rear if there is enough room for a 4.10-18. It looks like there is so hopefully that will work.
Got the frame cut up some. Tacked in the new backbone peice. Its some 1-3/8" DOM I had at the shop left over from a friends Jeep. Sleeved 4" into the stock frame and drilled some holes in the stock frame for some plug welds. Ill plug weld and then fully weld it in after its all mocked up...
Picked up a 79 KZ750 a couple weeks back. It ran, drove and stopped, not bad for $600.
Decided to go with a softtail build on this one. Mocked up the bike with a 10.5" strut to simulate the shorter shocks for now. Swapped a set of dirtbike renthal bars I had hanging around as well...
I haven't had time to work on it the past couple weeks. Hopefully I'll get some done this week and next.
The tank is going to stay chrome, the frame will probably be black. I havent decided a color for the fender and "oil tank" yet.
the tires are 4.00x18 front and rear.
The...
Im not sure how much or if at all you are planning on stretching the bike but I used the same kit on my KZ400. I tacked the new axle plates to my stock swingarm and used the swingarm as my "jig". It gave me 4.5" of stretch which was right around what I wanted so it worked out.
My seat mounts are all tacked together, I plan on burning the front on tonight. Im going to wait on the final position of the rear mount till I get my fender. I bought some sissor style 3.5" springs last night also. the 2" ones I had were not tall enough. I bought a 5" wide Peak fender. I...
There is a metal sleeve in a rubber bushing in the eye right? Im pretty sure I just removed the metal sleave and ran the bolt on the bushing. for the bottom mount I cut down the mount to fit the 3/4" width.
I traded my stock 650 tank for them. Ill see if I can figure out what they are for. They were defidently harley sportster shocks. Im not sure on the year. I had to modify the eyes on them to get them to fit correctly.
I dropped my wheels and tires off today to get mounted. Local shop will do both for $15 each so it saves me the trouble.
A company I used to work for in VT, Lebanon Screw Products (lsp-vt.com) makes some nice stuff for circle track guys so I called them up and had them send me a billet...
Tank I found on ebay. It was triple the price of the bike though, but once I saw it I knew I needed it. Its only money right?
Oh and the tank is a Late 60's Early 70's Chrome Hodaka tank for anyone wondering.
