a crf 450 motor would be cooler in that frame 50 hp plus out of one of those

that will cure the bog

The new ones are fuel infected so no bog aaaand chipset mapping for those trips to the high country.

I went up to 120 on the jet, which made it much better.

Ran into an interesting article while working on my airhead. It concerns petcock and fuel flow. If you installed a new petcock with a good screen... The author did not recommend an additional in-line fuel filter, as it would restrict fuel further. Especially when you are running low in the tank or at high speed.

Good call. I removed the inline when I installed the new petcock.

Interesting... makes perfect sense. I used to gut the screens from petcocks and only run an inline because of serviceability... much easier to yank the filter and toss it for a new one. Now I make sure cans are clean and run a filter in my filler tube for the shop to be sure I'm not adding dirty fuel into a fresh carb. These little things keep our heads from exploding!

RD

Deviant, great build man, one of the coolest, most creative builds Ive seen in a while, I really like it. I was wondering what gauge steel did you use for your seat pan assembly and the front fairing?

Thanks Luugo. Appreciate it. All 16 guage steel sheet. I probably could've gone thinner, but I'm also restoring a 1970 Roadrunner, which needs 16 guage. So I'm sharing metal between the bikes and the car.

I see.. gotta get it where you can, those materials aren't cheap man.. You got me drooling over that little scoot man… Ive been hunting the net for one so that when I finish my tour in Korea I might be able to snag one up for a project.. Where parts for the engine hard to come by?

Much thanks, y'all. I appreciate all the support and help. Y'all have been great. ;D

Much thank, y'all. Already scratched up the paint riding trails. A little air brush repair and we'll be good to go. Prolly need a few more layers of clear coat this go-round.

So I've been chasing electrical gremlins for a week or two. First, a brake light wire wears through the insulation, drains the AGM battery to dead and possibly sends problem offspring into the harness. Got the wiring sorted, ordered and installed a new battery. Should be good to go? Nope. Headlight burns out, and the bike wants to stutter in acceleration. Turns out the circuit breaker is heating up, disengaging, cooling and reengaging. Off and on... off and on... Replaced the circuit breaker, go for a ride and it starts to stutter again. New headlight goes out. WTF? Loose connections in the harness. Get them sorted out and now we're in business.

I'm seriously considering soldering every electrical connection on this motorcycle. Chasing these gremlins sucks.

Also time to order points and a condenser. I'm trying out a $3 6v Massey-Ferguson condenser and this Yamaha coil I bought a while back that cost $16 instead of $70.
