Well, I got the seat shaped and ready to be covered Didnt take near as long as I thought it would).. used some of the stock seat foam to shape the hump.. then covered the entire seat in some PINK carpet foam... think it turned out rather nice!!

Dont worry... that stupid big stock tail light is going the way of the DODO as soon as I can find a suitable replacement..

Cheers,
Kevin

looks pretty good. You might try to move that fender under the seat some more and get a lucas style taillight. or make a small bracket for the one you have to move it closer to the fender.Keep it up.

That is the plan... gotta figure out a way to mount the fender so it sits a bit higher (maybe above the cross brace) and get rid of the ridiculously big brake light... hopefully be able to sort all that out tomorrow if the weather hold off and is nice like it was today...

Looks good man. Id just leave the fender at that height and bob it back a bit. I have a cat eye light in a chrome housing you can have if it would help.

Thank bro, could you shoot me a photo or two of the brake light?

Gotta say a BIG Thanks to charlesskelter for coming by and picking up my seat for upholstry this weekend... I am hoping that I can get some work done on the bike this week so that by the time he finish the cover I will have the bike almost ready... Gotta figure out my exhaust setup.. Posted a question on the 800-Cafe Help Thread about running an X pipe at the top of the exhaust setup and have gotten some pretty good feed back. I am wanting to run the exhaust down both sides of the bike similar to CL style pipes but down both sides instead of one.. Think it will look killer... I scored a new ignition switch from Ebay over the weekend, since the guy I bought the bike from has yet to return any of my calls requesting he mail me the keys... Also scored a new tail light, just have to cut down the stock mount and fab up a mounting bracket for the new light... Should have some good progress made in the next few weeks, weather is starting to cooperate (however its supposed to snow again tomorrow)

Well, thats all for now. I will get some progress photos up as soon as I have something new to share.

Cheers,
Kevin

Took the advise of a couple of members and boiled my master cylinder to try and get some movement in the piston so I could get it apart... Good News - Boiling the MC freed up the piston.... BAD NEWS - I got my pinch plyers out to pull the retaining clip, and of course it SNAPPED in half because one side of it was fused in place.... WTF do I do now??? I can't get the retaining clip out, so I can't disassemble the MC to rebuild it... Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated..

Cheers,
Kevin

Try Evapo-Rust. They sell it at Auto Zone. Its great, and biodegradable, with no toxic chems, or fumes. Works wonders, but takes a little while.

Quick update.. got my brake light in the mail today... very happy with it, I was a bit worried about it when I bought it thought it was going to be a bit too small but it is just the right size.. Going to trim down the stock tail light bracket and see if I can fabricate a mount for the new tail light... here are a couple of pics for your viewing pleasure (sorry for the crappy cell phone photos)....

Looks good man, where'd you get it?

It was an Ebay score.... here is a link to the guy I got it from, he has lots of other lights like this one http://stores.ebay.com/BKRider-Store
Very reasonable price and pretty quick shipper... Should have some pics of her all mounted sometime this week...

Happy Sunday everyone..

Cheers,
Kevin

I am soooo glad that spring is almost here.... the weather was perfect yesterday here in Charlotte... Got done with my Sunday routine early and had a chance to work on the bike for a bit.. Got a couple of things accomplished..

I got the ock for the seat and the ignition switch replaced... Still have not heard from the guy I bought the bike from who still has the keys, so I just went ahead and bought a new ignition switch off of Ebay for like $10... Had to drill the seat lock to get it off, but it provided a bit of fun... When the lock finally released, the lock pin that attaches to the seat shot up about 20 feet in the air and almost killed my dog!!! Replaced the lock with the lock from my old CB200 frame... man I love interchangable parts...

The main project for Sunday was the brake light... I had some ideas floating around in my head and finally decided on this one... I cut down the stock light assembly/license plate holder, fabricated a mount to attach to it that would also attach to the back of the brake light. It is not perfect, but overall I am really pleased with how it turned out... Here are some before and after photos of the brake light project...

Next will be determining how much to chop on the fenders... need the seat back from Charlesskelter before I can do the rear fender... dont want to chop too much off....

More to come soon...

Wanna race? LOL

HAHA... I wont win that race!!!

Seriously, thanks for the compliment on the light. If you want the link to where I got it shoot me an email or PM. I may have to redo the mount I made for it, it was a little loose once I got it on the bike... I am going to try and get the switches and bars completed this afternoon (weather permitting).. I am excited to see what the bike will look like with the white grips on..

Nice work, I think I have seen a similar green and white paint scheme before,

New light looks much better! I dig it. I'd say to chop the rear fender off at the back where it bolts on the sides and slide it up where the two lower exposed holes from the original light/plate mount is and it'll be good to go. But you can wait if you want. ;) Sent you a pm on the seat.

I finally got my new master cylinder in today...

Going to try to get the handle bars completed this week... Install new grips, reinstall controls and new(to me) master cylinder.. Hopefully going to get the inside of the tank cleaned and ready to go off to the painter this week as well... didn't get anything done on the build this weekend because of the freakin monsoon of a weekend we had... went house hunting instead, and think we found our new place!!! Best part about the new place, IT HAS A GARAGE.... It will be sooooo nice to have a nice dry well lit place to work in for a change..

Will get some photos of the completed bars up as soon as they are complete.. just wanted to give everone a quick update..

Cheers,
Kevin

I hear ya about the garage. That was my only requirement I told my wife when we were house hunting. Everything else is for her anyway!
