1974 cl125 (going cafe now)

Re: 1974 cl125 (huge update!)

relly whooping along now huh?
yea for progress.
i have one concern, unless there are no right hand turns where you live i would consider either turning that plate 90 degrees or maybe bending it out.
If you take a corner and hit it hard it will probably fly off. maybe have a buddy lean it over while you watch to see what touches the ground first, the peg or the plate.
good on you for doing what you want not just a resto for money,

Re: 1974 cl125 (huge update!)

yeah i thought about that, i moved it 90 degress to be in landscape portrait like normal, even if it may look a little goofy. ill still play around with it.

but i took my first legal ride on it today (i couldnt wait for my tail light to come)

shes a mean little shit, and i love her looks.

as soon as my tail light housing comes (hopefully tonight) im gonna drill holes in the fender i made to mount the light and to mount the fender to the bike then wire it up!

Re: 1974 cl125 (huge update!)

my little tail light came today. i cut a piece off my old front fender from the gs550, drilled some holes, did some paint and.. voila.

Re: 1974 cl125 (here she is!)

Soooooo I said screw it and I'm going cafe with her. I originally thought she was too small to cafe but I don't care. I'm a small guy. I can run club mans on this thing with stock foot pegs and don't even hit my knees on a full locked turn. Its been sitting without a key (lost it when I lost all my keys and I had spares of everything except that). So cana moderator move this to the cafe section? Thanks!

So first thing I'm doing is either trying to get s new key made, or do a new ignition. I ordered some club mans. My last cafe (gs550) was so heavy that club mans made me feel like I had no control over it so I went with drag bars. But I flipped the "super bike" low rise bars I had on it now last night to see how it feels and it feels right.

She lost about 50+ lbs when I did what I did and with no rear fender (which is just a chopped front fender off the gs right now.) so it weighs like 150lbs. I could probably bunny hop it.

Also the last cafe I did, I got to cheat on the seat because the rear cowl of a gs made a great bump stop, and I have two more, but they're too big for the little bike, so ill be making a fiberglass seat.

Also, I am NOT doing wire through club mans, so though it may not look as clean, I'm gonna figure out a cleanish way around it.

I'm working on cleaning up my bars now by removing the clunky stock controls and getting simple Motion Pro pieces. For the buttons, I plan on having an aftermarket horn button on the clutch side (no turn signals=no switch) and a start button on the right between the aftermarket throttle (I'm keeping the stock brake lever/MC reservoir and switching the lever). A hi/lo/off toggle is going in the headlight bucket and an on/off is going somewhere back by the oil tank. Now I have to figure all that out = /
