Yeah the older KZs had a REALLy wide seat base. I'm 5'10 and even just sitting on the bars I feel like there is a horse under me.

Yeah, :/, Haha hopefully its better with a cushioned seat.

Center bolt is probably rusted into the bearing tube. You may be able to lay it down and spray release oil around shaft but many times I've had to hacksaw through the bolt and remove it from bearing spacer later (use just hacksaw blade wrapped in tape)
Heating won't do any good as the outer swing arm pivot tube is at least 1/8" away from the bearing spacer.
Big hammer (FBH) may work but center bolt is probably going to be scrap

detabbed and smoothed out some old welds on the frame

some pics I took for the cl360 at this really nice spot not too far from my house

kz400 rolling chassis

crappy pic but everything has been painted in a matte black. The rear shocks I would've rather left chrome but it was heavily pitted and looked terrible so I coated them with a wrinkle vht matte black.

still trying to figure out what I am gonna do with the seat but thinking about doing a thicker tracker like seat - about the same height as the back sub-frame brace and then chop up the stock rear fender and place it in

Well can finally say she's fully tuned and theres nothing left too do besides go 100% on the kz400 now. Took her out for a long ride today and feels like I'm supermanning during any type of acceleration :p

whats it sound like when the rear tire crashes into the fender on bumps ?

Just noticed, you really need to remove the front mudguard stay, it does nothing but create a hazard

Haven't had any issues, but I understand the concern. Ultimately I would like an inch higher rear shocks.

1" you still woiuldn't have enough clearance
but that is the way of the brat seat fuck the details

well if it makes u happy I'm leaving the sub frame back brace on my KZ400 and not implementing a brat hoop, which lets another three inches of space for the wheel vertically.

I will get better pictures up soon... but this was an low budget project, after I got it running I just stripped it down and painted everything matte black. I painted the engine in vht wrinkle paint and high heat enamel.

The only thing I spent money on was the new tires / mounting, and paint. But there are new bearings in...

also have cruddy emgo pods on that I had lying around, and I currently have this bike on craigslist for sale.
will get better pictures soon
