1974 Kawasaki G4TR 100cc bucket racer project

Re: 1972 Kawasaki G4TR 100cc bucket racer project

quick heads up:

I noticed on the air tech main page that they're having a 15% off vintage style tanks. Not sure how long the sale is, but less money in their pocket is more money in yours,( for a new piston?)!

Re: 1972 Kawasaki G4TR 100cc bucket racer project

Oh sweet! The new piston is only 30 bucks but I am not sure how much it will cost to get it bored out. Something else I have to look into.

I checked all the measurements and my frame area for tank and seat is only 40 " long haha the CR110 tank is 24" long, So I am going to have a verrrrry small seat haha but thats okay with me. The seat I was looking at was 24 " long so thats out now.

You going to get in on that sale? Thanks for letting me know!

Re: 1972 Kawasaki G4TR 100cc bucket racer project

Hey Groovy, are you after the longer racing tank only? I was checking around on ebay and there's a couple cool MX plastic tanks. They are shorter, but just wanna point them out.

Edit: Here's the one I was looking at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Plastic-vintage-dirtbike-enduro-desert-gas-tank-/120561792941?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c120af7ad

You would have to get a LLOONNGG seat I'm sure, but it's plastic and already has a cool shape to it. AND...... it's Kawi green!

Re: 1972 Kawasaki G4TR 100cc bucket racer project

Thanks Big R! they are the right price that's for sure! But I have my heart set on the classic long racing tanks.

Re: 1972 Kawasaki G4TR 100cc bucket racer project

Did you see the one that I posted in the "Spotting" section? Curbcast called dibs on it already though

Re: 1972 Kawasaki G4TR 100cc bucket racer project

I got a tank!

Huge thanks to Big R, Blake and VonYinzer for all there help! I love this site because everyone is so quick to lend a hand.

VonYinzer found a take on ebay that was just to good a price to refuse. $64! for an original metal tank? Hells yeahs.

I also have my eye on a seat to go with it from air tech.

Now....to think of a paint/colour scheme....HMMMMmmm...

I have always liked red on white.

This caught my eye. Old school race wave type pattern stripe down the middle with low stripe down the sides.

Im pumped you got that tank man. I really think it will look the business on the 100!

Re: 1972 Kawasaki G4TR 100cc bucket racer project

I am pumped to!

I just realized this bike will only be 7 " wide (except for about a 4" section in the seat which will be 9") and 40" long!

That is awesome. It will be a blast to tear around the city on. I see some dangerous shit in this bikes future...

Re: 1972 Kawasaki G4TR 100cc bucket racer project

Awesome, Leigh! Congrats on the tank! We'll have to celebrate on Friday :p

Re: 1972 Kawasaki G4TR 100cc bucket racer project

The tank should arrive on Friday as an added bonus!

Speaking of Friday, I started uncovering all the wires in the 360 last night. It is a mess under there. Its obvious that's where the problem is coming from. (For those of you who don't know my cb360 is having major electric issues! keeping me from riding! grrr!) There are about 3 or 4 wires that have been messed with in some way or another. :'( If we lose our minds trying to work on the cb360 electrics we could always work on the kaway motor :p

Re: 1972 Kawasaki G4TR 100cc bucket racer project

Man, I wish I could be there... That kawi motor looks like it would be so much fun to tear into...

Re: 1972 Kawasaki G4TR 100cc bucket racer project

I miss you too Mike...

come back to us soon! *reaches out arms in emotional fashion*

Oh...you miss the motor... I see how it is.

Re: 1972 Kawasaki G4TR 100cc bucket racer project

I am terrible with electrics. One look at wiring diagrams and I lose the will to live.
Your help and company will always be appreciated!

Re: 1972 Kawasaki G4TR 100cc bucket racer project

Not related to the kawasaki build, but if you have been reading this thread my CB360 has been having some electrical problems. For no other reason than showing how amazing it is this thing didn't burst into flames I thought you might like to see the wonderful fankenstein electrical job the previous owner(s) did on this thing.

All of this was discovered after months of trying to figure out why the headlight suddenly stopped working. It only stopped working after putting new handlebars on so we figured it had something to do with that. Most likely we unplugged the controls and then plugged them back into the CORRECT wires, which obviously wouldn't work because of this strange butcher job that was discovered. VonYinzer and Go figured out what wires were the problem but only way to fix it? Pull the harness apart and follow them.

This is what we found.

I knew it was going to be bad when I saw so much electrical tape and feared the worst. Luckily backup arrived in the form of Go!

Why yes that is a 4 into 2 for some unknown reason!

Concensues decision? New wiring harness unmolested off ebay for 30 bucks.

Keep in mind everything has run perfect on this bike since I bought it in 2008, and these photos only show just some of the things we discovered.

A million thanks to GO and VonYinzer for all their help. By all their help I mean, do everything for me. Haha
