1976 Honda CB360T - Build Thread (Update 10/1 S2000 START BUTTON AND VIDEO!!!)

Re: 1976 Honda CB360T - Build Thread (Update 6/26 New Tires/Fender!!!!!!)

+1 Matt. You're really creating something special.

Re: 1976 Honda CB360T - Build Thread (Update 6/26 New Tires/Fender!!!!!!)

the bike looks stunning, but I am concerned the kickup from the rear tire will mess up the paint on the nice "hump" in the back....

But still.looking fantastic.

The fender is still in place to protect the cowl! It's just a lot smaller. :)

Re: 1976 Honda CB360T - Build Thread (Update 6/26 New Tires/Fender!!!!!!)

Here is the final update for 2 weeks while we're in Europe. I installed the painted fender, wheels, mounted the taillight and license plate. Everything is going to look SICK once I get the new tank/sidecovers installed.

Look at those colors pop!

That's all, folks! See ya in two weeks!

Re: 1976 Honda CB360T - Build Thread (Update 7/13 ALL FINISHED FOR NOW!!!!! WOW WOW)

UPDATE!!!!!

I got all of my main projects completed and was able to put the bike back together, finally! Next weekend is the Mid-Ohio Vintage Moto Days and Im going to trailer the bike up there for the show. Who knows what'll happen, but I figure it can't hurt! I do still have a number of items to complete, but right now it LOOKS complete and is ridable. New front brake is lethal with the new MC, stainless line, new pads, caliper rebuild, etc. There are no words to describe how pleased I am with how it looks at this point.

Items left to do:

- Paint or powdercoat the fork tubes semi-gloss black
- 380cc engine build using GS850 pistons and 2MM overbore
- Powdercoat frame gloss black
- Powdercoat clutch lever black (or get replacement to match brake)
- Powdercoat a few other small bits

Pics:

New inline brake switch and Nissin master cylinder.

Stopped by an office for some pics with the sunset/shadows

That's all for now! Next big update will be engine build but Im not 100% sure when that'll happen. Thoughts?

It will happen once you promise someone you will have it somewhere and you have the least amount of time and/or money to do it.

she looks super! At first I thought the seat/fender may be a little funky, but now I think it turned out really nice. I have no idea how those guys ride the bikes w the thin little butt pads.

Re: 1976 Honda CB360T - Build Thread (Update 7/13 ALL FINISHED FOR NOW!!!!! WOW WOW)

Updaaaaaaate!

I decided to re-work my dash quite a bit. I didn't like the small LED lights and thought they looked out of place. I surfed through (seemingly) 100,000 listings on eBay looking at all sorts of indicator lights. I found the ones you'll see below with a nice chrome ring around the edges that had a more OEM look to them. For some reason, my LED turn-signal light on my first setup quit working, and instead of messing around with resistors and re-doing that harness, I just started from scratch.

Also, I took apart the gauges, stripped the paint, powdercoated the surrounds, polished the casings, re-did the faces, and re-painted the needles. The paint on the needle tips is New Formula Red (from an S2000) as I had some touch up paint left over.

Old gauge faces, chipped paint on cases, etc.

Gotta cut chrome trim ring which holds the two halves together to get to the guts of the gauges.

Pop the needles off (I grabbed the chrome circle with needlenose pliers and pulled gently). Repaint the tips if you want to. Before on the right, after (NFR) on the left.

New gauge faces in place.

Here you can see the powdercoated casings. The toughest part of this whole job is re-installing the chrome ring that holds the two halves together. I used JB Weld and a hose clamp and let it sit for 24 hours. Worked really well.

Switching gears, I got rid of the old small LED indicator lights and picked up these bigger indicator lights and redid all of the wiring with all new bullet connectors soldered into the OEM harness.

Teaser!

And here are the gauges and dash re-installed on the bike!!! I LOVE how it turned out. The gauge casings and the dash are both powdercoated the same semi-gloss black and are a perfect match.

WOW!

Front view!

And here is a short YouTube vid showing the lights working perfect. :)

Re: 1976 Honda CB360T - Build Thread (Update 8/5 CUSTOM DASH AND VIDEO!!!)

Been awhile since my last update but here goes!

I finally got around to wiring in my Honda S2000 Engine Start button. It involved the use of outside sources, beer, interwebs, relays, males and females, swearing, but I finally got it to work! Check the YouTube vid to see it in action!
