Did some powder coating! I picked up a nice little kit to get my feet wet for small parts. Craftsman powdercoat gun, Eastwood Powders, and a Farberware 8 slice toaster oven. Im REALLY pleased with the results.

Here's my setup:

Back half of caliper after cooling down:

Front half of caliper:

Far right is the brake fluid reservoir cap:

OK, I think I may to invest in this type of setup. Not an insult, but I think if you can do it, I can do it. I like the look of the PC over any paint, especially for items like the brake caliper....

Be a little bit if time for me to amass the money for this, but it is looking like it is worth the effort.

Nice work...

Took me a bit to find your reply...but yea, it's not expensive at all. Just make sure the part is prepped well and you're off the the races. Easy peasy. :)

Re: 1976 Honda CB360T - Build Thread (Update 6/6 More Powdercoating!!!!)

We had a big rally in Cincinnati last weekend and there was a local shop that was in a bind needing some CB360 shocks to get a customers ride running prior to the rally. I traded a spare set I had for some TBD shop-time. Fortunately for me, they have a plasma cutter, which piqued my interest. I've seen a number of different custom dashes, but didn't care for how they looked like they didn't belong. I hope my idea will look much more OEM.

Template made:

From here, the template was scanned into an AutoCAD-ish program, made symmetrical, and exported into the drawing program. From that point, the machine gets to work!

The machine working!

Cut out of the steel! This is before it was smoothed over.

Test fit! This is going to look GOOD!

Now, the holes, in case you're wondering.

Bottom hole - Ignition
Top hole - S2000 "Engine Start Button"
They idiot lights will be spaced evenly across the radius at the top. They are small LED's.

That's as far as we got tonight since I had to run to dinner. It will be powdercoated semi-gloss black to match the gauges.

Re: 1976 Honda CB360T - Build Thread (Update 6/7 Custom Dash!!!!)

Here it is! Went back to the shop today to finish up the dash. Had to weld the radiused back plate onto the dash, drill idiot light holes, and smooth everything over. From there, I took it home and powdercoated everything semi-gloss black and mocked it up! It's 100% non-functional right now, but that will be remedied in the next update.

Cut out smoothed over and mocked up with all the lights/start button:

Powdercoated and test fit on the bike!

Next steps:

1) Get all electric working
2) Refurbish gauges
3) Powder coat handlebar brackets and triple tree
4) Install new clutch cable since mine snapped today

That engine start button is the tits!

+ 1, the start button is very cool. Also, I moved my key switch up top twixed gauges a month or so ago...I still reach and fumble under the tank every time. LOL. I used the dremel to cut a square hole for the switch. To keep it from twisting. you could probably do this out of thinner material and tack it under side.

Re: 1976 Honda CB360T - Build Thread (Update 6/8 More Dash Work!!!!)

That is just too cool Matt. A nice blending of the old and new.

Thanks for the comments, everyone! I will be either getting new hardware or reusing what I have after either cleaning them up or powdercoating the heads. :)

I will be getting "SPECIAL EDITION" reprinted to half the height and it will be centered under the HONDA decal.
