1976 Honda cj 360

So I have the carbs apart and soaking so while I'm waiting I put the headers on.
The clamps tightened to with in a 1/4 inch of the case and they are tight.
Next on to adjust the valves and install the points and condenser.

Wow, the whole bike is looking very clean. Nice job. I'd like to get my CJ360 that clean. If only I had a warm space to wrench... (working on that now).

Use a product such as Sure Tack as a glue. It's safe to use with prongs and fuel systems. It takes very little to hold the oring in place long enough to assemble.

Well carbs are cleaned and bench synced. Got them in!

Well guys I have a problem. I don't think I times the camshaft correctly. I have a problem with just skimming over things and I think when I installed the camshaft I got the lines horizontal on the sprocket but didn't pay enough attention to turn the crankshaft to LT! Now when my tappets are adjusted I hit the intake valves. Looks like the topend is coming back apart

Chris

I agree it's not that hard I just hate doing things twice. Hope it goes smooth. I think just release chain tensioner then take the 2 bolts out of the sprocket and rotate it till the line is square. Wish me luck I hate having to honda bond this again.

Chris

Well is this better when I'm at LT? Looks right to me. I just wish I have the confidence that I have the chain tensioners right. I think I do. I can rotate the engine nice and smoothly no noise chain is not loose. Well just have to wait till Monday to get some honda bond. I need to touch up the top case anyway.

yup looks good, don't use hondabond on the cam cover, it gobs out on the inside and can break off, use loctite 518, it's the best thing since sliced bread. when it's kept from air, it hardens to a rubbery gasket, if still exposed to air, it remains liquid, nothing to break off and clog your oil system

What about loctite 515 intead of loctite 518 for sealing the head back up. I have 515 readily available and the operating temperatures are the same. Or should I stop by autozone and pick up some permatex?
