68 CL175 Project Vicarious

Re: 68 CL175 Project Vicarious - tuning woes.......

Plastic weld it. Use some old computer bits, a soldering iron and a wet cloth to smooth with.

Re: 68 CL175 Project Vicarious - tuning woes.......

Thanks Staffy but I did the next best thing - stripped the signals off my Zook. I'm looking to upgrade to led's anyway....

Re: 68 CL175 Project Vicarious - tuning woes.......

Cafe racers dont have turn signals!! 8)

hows the jetting going?

Re: 68 CL175 Project Vicarious - tuning woes.......

There's also no cafe's in my town! 8)

I'm actually waiting on some new pilots in the mail. The 17.5's are a little lean, and the 22.5's are too rich. My needle is still in the 2nd notch from the bottom while my mains are at 140. I tried the 145's and it bogged down.....but if I can get my hands on some bigger air filters I'll try them again.

Re: 68 CL175 Project Vicarious - tuning woes.......

That would be great Mike. Just to try them out.

Sounds like 20's on the pilots will do tht trick, no?

New condenser arrived today, smokey update tomorrow.

The 20's actually came in today but i didn't get a chance to install them. Pesky job.

I'll keep you up to date though.

Update - im an idiot. I had 120's in the mains. Dont know why i thought i 140's in. But tomorrow I'm gonna see about making my intake longer and re-tuning to 6" Uni filters (thanks Von!)

I had a post about my carb flanges asking about shorter / longer intakes. PJ and Boingk pointed out that longer intakes bring the power band down to a useable level.

In another thread (tuning for modded intake and exhaust by Boingk) - PJ pointed out again that the intake should be at least 9.5" (something like that).

Okay, I guess being ignorant about all this really. I would look at what the race guys use on these and mod from there. nearly 10" intake seems extreme. if it works, fucking cool!!

Pj and Boingk are the kind of crazy geniouses around here after all.

bare in mind that the "intake length" is measured from the valve opening. you've got a couple inches in the head, include the carby etc...

True, but that 9.5" was kinda the bare minimum. I'll double check the thread before doing anything though.

Worse comes to worse, it's all cheap rubber hose and piping. Easy to return to any given length!

Well guys, the bike will be coming to an end within the next couple months. Being that I've bought another motorcycle, the poor little Honda has to go.

We've had some good times and some bad times, but this is definitely a bike that i will remember for a LONG time. The frame, engine, and exhaust will be sold along with the title to a local DTT member. Pretty much everything else will be parted out or held onto. And when that day comes, expect the "selling" section to be packed with good small Honda parts!

But in the meantime, I'm still gonna ride the hell out of it!
