Thanks for the heads-up brother. Im sure ill have some time in em' to rig the setup correctly, but Im stoked. With the whole vintage race theme im going with paintwise, I thought these may be a bit too modern looking, but ill paint them balck so they arent sticking out like a sore thumb... Hopefully it wont eff' up the whole look of the bike. Theres so much black on the chassis/motor though, they should blend in nicely... Also, I dont know if anyone here is on CUSTOMFIGHTERS.COM, but theres always rearsets for dirt cheap on their classifieds board. My buddy just picked up a really nice set from an 87' CBR600 Hurricane for $20. I wish I had thought to look there earlier...
Going to put the hammer down, and get some shit finished this week. Have to wait a week or so for the rearsets unfortunatly, but no biggie. First up is fixing the lower neck bearing. Like a moron I put it on without a spacer. It didnt come with any, and I figured it would be cool without. WRONG!!!! So once thats fixed, and I finish fabbing up a battery/electrics tray, ill be able to get the chassis back together and figure out how to mount the seat... Oh shit am I excited to get this thing back together! I still need to finish a lot of stuff, but its getting there. Right in time for PAs yearly sub zero ice storm season... HOORAY!
Sorry for the glaring lack of pics, I just keep forgetting my camera. I promise some decent eyecandy asap!
Was going to work on the bike tonight, but I just got out of a meeting at work and checked my voicemail... Free Pens tickets tonight!!! Awesome. Its been a good day.
Nice!! I'm a big Bruins fan myself. Gotta say, I love Pittsburgh. My band used to tour through there and I always liked that town. Actually thought about moving there for a while. There was a girl involved of course.

Alrighty kiddos... Heres some teasers shots. Still waiting on the vintage NGK decals and some pinstiping but you can see where this little bastard is headed.
Didnt want to go overboard on the distressing on the tank, as Ill be adding the decals and some lettering. I think it looks killer with the seat, and once its covered I think itll look badass. We'll see. Man, this is gettin fun!
Ya, I hear ya. Cant see them real well in the pics, but I lesft the little dents and dings in the tank. Thats where I rubbed the paint through. Battle scars.
So. Thanks all for the kind words. Now I need to figure out what to do with the motor... Black it out? Some black bits? Leave it all grungy? Polish up some bits? Lemme know what you think please.
Oh and the wheels... There a little worn, and I could just leave them like that, and it would fit this whole "look", but let me know what you all thilnk would look bitchin'.
i would not leave it grungy, i would not leave any of it grungy, you are doing a thow back worn look not dirty. For the motor i would pull the cases, polish up to mid shine, and then use a tourch to score and blue it

Hmmm... Thats an option. I love the look of the old race bikes (obviously) and I see a lot with flat black side covers, and jugs. Its a good look. I just dont want to spend tme and $$ doing something that will look out of place with the rest of the bike. And I really wish that my effin' decals would get here so I can try and finish this tank up!
please do not take offence to this, i am blunt honest, and do not always come across the best. To me the tank looks like you did a real bad paint job, could not get it right and gave up, does not look worn, if you want the worn look man you are going to need to lay a much better finish on the tank, it has so much orange peel it takes away from the effect of the sanding... i actually looked at the bad paint before i even noticed the scuff marks, i would have just assumed that the painter did not take the time to prep the part, then started to fix it and gave up. i am just being honest man... take it or leave it. i would say to knock that orange peel down and keep do the same scuffing again and it will look 100% better, i would also recomend a 80% gloss clear so that it takes some of the shine away to go with the theme... you can also do this by shooting the clear further back with reg clear and get the same effect not allowing it to completely vaporize
here is blueing done on a tank. this would look killer on the engine cases... if you need a step by step in about 3 weeks i will be doing this to a pan head
