I still have been too busy to get things online. But I will leave you with this satisfying photo.

Re: 71 Indignant CB175 - Almost Finished!!

Alright, time for an update.

About a month ago I decided I didn't like the rearsets that I got. Too flimsy and I didn't trust them. I already had the original foot pegs and bar for the bike, so I fished it out and cleaned it up. The only thing I was missing is the rear brake pedal. I browsed Ebay and found a complete pedal/lever with linkage in great shape for under $20! Bought. I also got a used clutch cable since the one I bought is too long.

Then I installed the gas cap on the tank and the vintage HM decals that I have had forever. I'll get the stripes on there soon.

I also went by the upholstery shop today and we tested how the finished seat would look on the bike and it was great. Felt great too! We decided that he needed to shave a little foam off the front so I'll probably get it on Monday.

While I was out I also stopped by a custom exhaust shop in town and had a guy bend out both exhaust pipes right where I need them! I will need to sand them down and paint again, but I at least I can get started on the brackets for the exhaust.

I also think that the rear end needs to be higher up. One for clearance issues, and two for looks. So I am selling the shocks I have to get taller ones.

Its just details now. Almost complete!

Very cool, where'd you get the honda wings?

From a guy here on the DTT, white orbs, he does pretty good work, though I don't know if he is doing it anymore.

Thanks man!

Cool. The reason I asked is there's a guy on here making CNC versions of that design. I'm going to go the same route with the badges on mine. Keep it up!

Very nice progress, love the colors. Let me know how those shocks are going to work out. I was thinking of getting some 14", but might get the 13.2 retro after hearing about chain rub issues.

Thanks! The 12.5" shocks work fine, but I wasn't happy with the stance of the bike. That's the only reason I am trading up for the 14.5". I don't know what chain rub issues you are referring to. I had an issue with the mufflers, but I was able to get the exhaust bent out so I have no issues anymore.

I think he's referring to the chain rubbing the swingarm when the angle changes with the longer shocks. Did you have that issue?

Oh, I see. I don't have the new shocks yet but I was planning on getting/making a chain guard. I have one laying around somewhere.

I gotcha. I'm planning on running the same setup on my 175...14.5 DCC shocks. If I have that issue I'm going to try one of these chain tensioners and deflect it away.

Re: 71 Indignant CB175 - Almost Finished!!

This weekend I got the stripes on the tank and seat. They look great!

I also got the fuel lines hooked up and the new(used) clutch cable installed. I also removed the rearsets. Since I am going to run the stock footpegs and brake, as well as the center stand, I just need to get a new center stand pin. I seem to have lost mine.

The old shocks are sold and I have ordered the 14.5" ones that should give me the clearance I need. The last thing to do is sand down the exhaust, repaint it, and mount it. Should be fully complete with pictures in a couple weeks!

I have a center stand pin if you want it. I'd like to get rid of the whole stand though.

Re: 71 Indignant CB175 - Almost Finished!!

If a pin from a 350F will work you can have mine if you want it..

Re: 71 Indignant CB175 - Almost Finished!!

Did you ever get your 14.5" shocks mounted? I just got mine and the shocks are threaded for a 10mm bolt, not like the stock 8mm one. The bushing on the swingarm is made for an 8mm bolt though...how did you get that to work??

I'm stumped unless I can run an 8mm bolt through it with a nut on the other side...

Also, did you receive the center stand pin from me?

I just received them in today and haven't mounted them yet. I may have drilled out the swingarm bushing, but I can't remember. I did have to go buy bigger bolts for the clevis mount.

Haven't received the center stand pin yet, it may be here on Monday. Once I get that, the bike will be complete and I'll post up the finished pics! Thanks again! ;D

Cool. Check the tracking. They should be there soon.

Also, I think I'm going to drill mine as well but if they ever start to fail, check these puppies out...

Nice! Thanks for the link. I'll take a look at the bike and see what I have done.
