We got the BP oil spill all sealed up. A gasket wasn't lined up well and oil was seeping through. Also changed the oil seal where the points would normally be (cam shaft to cover).
Just need to weld these mufflers on to the headers and hopefully Thursday the bike will be ready to get tuned :....... I have to make a bracket or two to stabilize the mufflers too.....should be easy enough though. And to finish it up some black heat wrap down the header would be nice.
The headlight bucket is actually the stock one. I had the chrome ring painted black along with the bucket. It's pretty cool that you follow the thread, thanks for the compliment
For the led tail lights, Did you need aftermarket parts to get the items to flash, I have an old r1 led taillight that really does not seem to light up when I push down on the brake pedal.
- MartyMcFly: Any standard 7 inch sealed light will work. I had a light from a Miata I used to own but I decided to use an L.E.D. sealed beam instead due to less energy consumption, plus L.E.D.'s look cool.
- Korndog12: I had to get a smart flash L.E.D. control module from Harrisonspecialties.com to get the lights to work. The unit cost $99.95 so if what you have works somewhat it may not be worth the hefty price tag. Page 15 of this build shows a picture of the unit.
Updates...updates who wants updates?
Mufflers welded to header:
Exhaust heat wrap:
When I get the bike back from the shop I will finish up some brackets for the mufflers and put the header wrap on:
Exhaust sits nice and even:
On its way to the shop....Carbs are getting tuned...Timing will be set.....chain is going to be put on.....and if I can get the bike registered Monday hopefully they can give it an inspection sticker.....Once I get the front brake Ill try to get to the shop and install that myself.
Oh I guess Ill have to set the correct time too ;D
thearcticsea - "So how difficult is it to put in all new electrical components?" :-\ lets just say my buddy Tony and my brother Tim did most of the planning and I did the grunt work. It's a little confusing at times trying to figure out the stock wiring and the new stuff so I generally rely on others. So to answer your question.....If you asked it your probably like me and will need a little guidance .
Once I get the bike registered and I take it out for some runs I have to set up the speedo so Ill post how difficult it is. As far as mounting the gauge that was pretty straight forward, made some simple brackets. Overall I really like how many features and options are available for such a small unit. Quality seems pretty decent too.
