72 Honda CB450 "lucky 13"

Not much going on this week.....

N.O.S. petcock arrived in the mail the other day. Got some fuel line too. Still awaiting the gauge and I think I am going to order some black exhaust tape and some mufflers soon

In with the new old out with the old.....does that make sense? lol

And one painted front fender.....ready to be mounted

Gauge is in......I haven't worked on the bike in over a week!!! This heat wave sucks so once it cools down I'll be back at it. 8)

Been out of the loop for a few weeks. Had a few car troubles and had to put some energy into that :-\......I was looking at the bike yesterday and really need to finish this thing. This site always motivates me......so many cool projects. I started working on getting the gauge mounted with some brackets. I have to paint them so ill post some more pics soon.

The acewell was purchased from the wonderful site - Ebay. If you search Acewell I believe youll see plenty for sale.

I just read from page one to 17 and man talk about getting inspired to tear into it.
i will have a workspace not crowded with winter clothes and WVO processing in the next few weeks so who know about a frame off job,
but if you can do all this i can at least make some new brackets, shorten my exhaust, and find a replacement screw for the kickstart,
I hope none of my friends see this thread, BC they will make fun of my meager efforts

OK, so I have been really dragging my feet with this build lately.....I was at the point where I needed a newer car again so I have been focusing on that. Now I am on the final stages to getting this thing running. I have to figure out a new master cylinder and front brake lever as the stock one won't fit with the handlebars I'm using. I have the hand controls basically in place and the clutch is connected.

Found this old piece of scrap that worked out well for brackets to hold the Acewell on.

I painted the brackets after i took this pic

The new beater and bike wishing it was running ::)

feeding the wires through the handle bar

almost done

quick walk around......Tony had a tech meet for the north shore old car club so we displayed the Honda in his garage. Wish I could have made it! (was in Maine) :p

Love the simplistic look of this bike. It is definately my style, Love the tank color and old school Honda decal. NICE, NICE work man.

Got the wiring almost done. Put some fuel in the tank and started it up. Anyone know what this noise is in the video that sounds like a chirping bird. engine has plenty of oil and im unsure were the noise is coming from......sure is exciting getting this thing on its way though ;D

Cb 450 first start

Okay, everyone can relax. I found the problem and I know everyone was loosing sleep last night so we got it resolved ;). It ended up being a vacuum leak. the carburetor mount from the head had some left over gasket material that was allowing just enough air to pass by....Good thing it wasn't an engine failure. heres some new video (minus the bird chirp) and playing with the lights. Note: idle and timing not tuned yet.....still need to get some mufflers to tune it.

Cb450 better sounding and lights
