man bud that looks sick as hell! glad to have some of our work on it!!!

Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (engine in)

Thanks for the compliments guys. I hope to have a roller by tomorrow evening. The tank and tail are getting close to being ready for paint, so I really want to get moving on this build.

Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (engine in)

I was able to put some more hours in on the 750 today and now have a roller..

Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (Opinions needed on stripes)

I have been working on the body work and getting close to spraying the paint. I am going with a dark Metallic grey (BMW color) with white Honda decals. I am on the fence regarding stripes for this build. I am currently thinking about adding two 3/4 inch stripes in white running the length of the bike as shown in the pic.

Opinions or ideas are welcome. Since the bike is going to be pretty dark I want the white Honda decals and possibly white stripe to break it up.

Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (Opinions needed on stripes)

I finished up the clocks last night, polished the controls and drilled then internally wired the bars. I am still not sure if I am going to keep these or add different faces. Now I am going to start on the seat. Since this is the second seat I have re finished I hope this one turns out better than the first.

I know the clocks are reversed...

Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (Opinions needed on stripes)

Do ninjas have stripes? I thought they would be more inclined to blend in ;)

You need to lose the factory gas filler, you've gone this far....
Why did you reverse the tach speedo?
Oh, and watch out, there is a clubman bar hater lurking.

Lookin good tho.

Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (Opinions needed on stripes)

Yah, ninjas don't have stripes, but it is only a name.

As far as the filler I actually am in the minority and like the cover and the way it flattens out the top of the tank, it's all about the lines, lol...

The tach and speedo are reversed because I am dislexic, J/K. I am actually just experimenting with a way to run the cables and wires to the clocks that will conceal them better, but good catch.

Fuck the clubman haters, it's not there bike. Hows your bike running, it looks great. I am trying to remember if you used the stock front fender or something else. I am thinking of going with just a fork brace, but am concerned with the brake lines interfering with the front tire.

Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (Opinions needed on stripes)

The weather forecast this weekend was crappy, filled with rain so I decided to lay the paint. My second attempt at a garage paint job with aerosols was a success.

The clearcoat went down smooth over the honda decals, I was concerned about this.

I also refinished my exhaust crowns and had them ceramic coated in cromite. I don't have the facilities to do this so I had a local shop do the work.

That looks really good, what brand rattle can paint did you use for the base and clear coats?

It certainly was! That's a great finish, and the colour/stripes looks terrific.

Well done.

Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (Fresh Paint)

Thanks for the props guys, I appreciate it. The paint is great stuff. I ordered it from Automotive touch up: http://www.automotivetouchup.com/choosecolor/buypaint.aspx?year=2009&make=Chevrolet&model=Corvette&colordesc=Victory+Red%2C+74%2C+No%2C+No%2C+*+39339

They will put any base color from a factory vehicle in a spray can, I get my base coat and primer from theses guys. This color is from a 2009 Porsche. Usually takes 2 cans of spray paint at $18 each to shoot a bike, but it is good to have an extra can.

For clear I use: SPRAYMAX 2K GLAMOUR HIGH GLOSS CLEARCOAT SPRAY CAN

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200377752160&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT#ht_3001wt_897

I will use to cans of this to seal everything up.

I can't take all the credit for the paint work. I am lucky enough to have a dad who used to paint cars when he was younger and can help with the body and prep work which is the key to any quality paint job.

Thanks for looking

Here is a picture of the exhaust crowns. I blasted all the crap and rust off them and then had them treated with ceramic coating chromite.

Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (Fresh Paint)

Thanks guys. I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. All I am waiting on is the 836 kit from dynoman, (2 weeks) and I ordered a new Pingel petcock from the boys at Dime City. I also broke down and ordered some CR carbs to help with the performance end of things. This thing should get up and go once it is done. I wrapped up all the wiring last week, with the exception of an new older style ignition I plan on running, I hate wiring bikes.

Looks like this bike may be completed to in time to ride this summer.
