Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (update 6.9.10)

My new CR29's came in this week, these carbs are a thing of beauty. Still waiting for the 836 kit from Dynoman so I can complete the engine. I also finished stitching up a seat for the bike. This was my third attempt at making a seat and I feel like I am getting a little better each time.

I was also very unhappy with the quality of of the black vinyl gauge face covers I originally installed so I picked up some new white ones from a guy on ebay. The quality is excellent of the white decals and I think it will help to tie in the white stripes on my tins. I also refinished the gauge needles, painted them the same color grey as the tins and rolled back the milage to zero's.

Soon I will be selling some parts if anyone is interested;
77 750f carbs (completely rebuilt, re jetted, cleaned and polished up a bit)
K&N pod filters for the carbs. (new and in the box)
77 750f pistons (stock bore in excellent cond)
77 750f piston rings NOS (never installed)

Tige,

Great choice on the cr's, i went one jet size up and i think 3 clips from the bottom. I got the bike back together and had it out for an hour on Sun. Goes like a raped ape but i'm sure there is some more power to be found with some tweakin.

PM me, i accidently deleted your address. We need to hook up and do some tuning.

Good to hear about your bike Jame. My pistons should arrive today. Once I get the cylinders bored I will be close to getting this thing on the road. Thanks for the info on the carb set up.

Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (pistons are here)

Finally the 836 type f pistons from dynoman are here and they look great! All I have left to do is get the cylinders bored and put the rest of the bike together. Man this build is getting so close to being complete. I can't wait to ride this thing this summer.

lol, No camera skills really. Just lucky my father in law gave us a good camera.

Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (little closer)

So I finished up all the electrical work and installed a new blade fuse box.

I also started to instal my dynoman 836 pistons by myself but in my haste damaged one of my oil rails. Thats what I get for getting to impatient and rushing. New rings are on the way so I should be able to get the engine buttoned up by the end of the week.

Gordon frame kit is installed and tach welded into place, until I can get it finish welded.

I meant to ask this earlier, but what's the purpose of this Gordon frame kit thingy? I haven't come across it before.

Your work is stunning by the way.

cheers

Re: cb750 -true believer (Update 4.20.10)

Thanks for the props Ian. On 750's the motor fits very tight into the frame which makes it near impossible to work on the top end while it is in the frame. removing and installing the engine is like fitting a round peg in a square hole on the 750's. The frame kit allows you to remove the top half of the frame so you can take apart the top end while the motor is still in the bike.

Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (little closer)

I did get the $185 CAD kit from caswell, it worked great for small nuts and bolts. I picked up my energy source on ebay, but caswell also offers one. The cases are painted in VHT black Satin engine paint. Since I had the cases split I was able to bake the paint on for durability (fit in the oven when the wife was gone)

Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (made a baffle)

This is my first attempt to make a baffle. I took the stock Mac 4-1 cone baffle chopped off the second piece then welded the tubes together making a system which is more open. Next I drilled out the tube with multiple holes. I wanted to use the existing end cap so it will look stock (for a Mac 4-1) but wanted an improved sound. What do you guys think? Should I pinch down the most inside tip to get more back pressure? I also have the option to wrap in fiberglass to deaden the sound if it breaks my eardrums.

Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (made a baffle)

i think it looks good the way it is... leave it as such and if you need to wrap it aftr the install you can do that

Re: cb750 -Secret Ninja (made a baffle)

I took the day off work to try and get the motor buttoned up. The new rings from JE pistons came in, since I F'd up an oil ring. These 4's are much more difficult than Harley's to get the pistons on the rods and in the cylinders, lol. All is done, next is putting on the CR's and exhaust. Hope to have this done by the end of the weekend.

Thank God for the Gordon frame kit...
