Re: '77 CJ360T (Café SOS) - Got color?
Not as much done this weekend as I would have liked... The Mrs conscripted me to clean out the garage. It was kind of annoying because it was like Hanukkah all this week with all my parts arriving...
Here's the stack of everything I got this week:
From rough left to right, top to bottom order:
*Heavy duty-clutch springs
*Battery eliminator (basically a 15KuF capacitor)
*Bronze swingarm bushings
*Vinyl stickers including some vintage Honda logos, checkered racing stripes, and a couple of numbers to go on the tail (the kids' birthdays)
*Some o-rings from CMSNL
*AllBalls steering bearings
*Complete engine gasket set for a CB360
*LED flasher
*Two new (to me) rocker arms
*White Gran Turismo grips from Italy
*18 tooth front sprocket which should give me about 10% longer legs in each gear
*Transistorized ignition assists
*50' white exhaust wrap + stainless steel zip ties
*CB360 caphead bolt set
*New OEM right switch assembly (damn near impossible to find for a CJ at a decent price!)
*Custom copper head gasket to account from my 2mm overbore
*Combination solid state regulator/rectifier
Here's a pic of me just getting started on the ignition. Some assembly required. Unfortunately, it looks like this was designed to work with a dizzy and so I may need to get a second one or find something else to use.
I also had a new VIN tag made in vinyl and so that's now on with a couple layers of clear coat over the top:
Ignition coils are getting a quick lick of paint to make 'em shine:
Second coat on the rear shocks and they should be ready to reassemble for next weekend:
I'm done coating my springs in PlastiDip and I'm quite pleased with the results. Using that stuff from the aerosol can is halfway between spray painting and shooting ceiling texture. A smooth finish would have been possible with some more time, but I'm kind of digging the textured look:
I also removed the rubber and glue on my control levers and gave them a bit of a polish:
Here's a pic of the mounting brackets for the coils after I cleaned them up. Also pictured is a heat sink from an old graphics card that I polished. I'm going to use it during the fabrication process for me LED headlight and the polishing will promote better heat transfer:
And finally, some miscellaneous hardware from the rear shocks which I painted up. Hopefully it will stand up to the abuse for at least a little while:
