So the Bonneville is off to Atom Bomb Cycles for engine rebuild, custom exhaust and powder coat of frame and various parts...

Now I wait, in the mean time I found this KZ400 with low miles sitting and got it cheap. After a diagnosis, I ordered new vm 32 carbs, intake manifolds, pod filters, seat cover, mirrors, one signal, tires, tubes, brake pads, fork seals and dust covers, lower profile bars and I plan for new paint. Color unknown.

Its a 1976 KZ400 D3 with 4900 miles. The plan with this one is keeping it pretty stock with a few small upgrades then sell it. I have removed the stock air box, which I am certain the frame was built around :) , and have VM32s and kn pods. The tires I have for this one are pretty sick, street knobby s . I am doing a full service from front to rear and plan to ride it a bit before selling it. Should be a nice little twin for someone.

check out the front tire I stuffed under it!

I had to grind the head of two bolts on the fender for clearance! Love the moto x look.

Thanks but get comfortable, It will be 3-5 months before I get that thing back from the engine builder/ powder coater. It is over at Atom Bomb Cycles and Clay takes his time and Im not complaining because he does quality work. atombombcustom.com I will be giving updates periodically and plugging away with other bikes to keep me busy. Got the carbs done on the KZ

OK a quick update on the KZ. I ran into problems with the front brake caliper. It was used for only a few KZ models from this year and the aluminum tends to seize to the steel bleeder valves and render them useless. My bleeder valve broke off and my drill bits would not touch it. So, a stroke of luck, I found one in a salvage yard locally. It too, broke the bleeder off! I then took them both to a machine shop and left them. That evening I found one on ebay (a rare find ) and bought it. It arrived today and looks good. My tins are getting painted tonight or tomorrow and I plan to have it back together monday night and I will post a final picture. I will be scanning CL for my next bike to fill the void while waiting for the bonneville engine and paint.
