79 CB750 LE

Good on you! Nothing wrong with supporting a local shop, good for the economy. How did you go about describing what you wanted, pics from that "certain online retailers" work for him to mimic or just a verbal description of what your'e thinking?

HD - I had him come over so he could take a look at the frame, we talked for about an hour and showed him some pics online, i did show one of the "Cetain Retailers", discussed things i wanted to achieve such as fit/finish and what not. Its pretty exciting, since his rates are not budget busting, it gives some room to get creative, i do have a cool idea for the tail section, something im sure has been done before, but it will be a little surprise in the end =D Im handing over the frame with suspension attached so he can use it for the fabrication, it will come with a few pictures, so we will see how this turns out in a couple of weeks!

And as for the wheels off of the K model, the rear was direct bolt-on, ill prob get around to mounting the front today, but im sure it will work just fine too!

Its not as easy as it used to be to find people that can work one on one with you to create something cool for a decent price, its unfortunate, but big-box stores, online retailers and such seem to push services to a non-personal level. So heres to hoping this turns out great =)

No Turning Back =D =D =D

Holy JEEBUS!

sick pile of parts you got there man... gives me motivation to get mine back into a roller so I can place my DCC order...

Cant wait to see the sum of these parts.

You and me both Layn! Handing over the rolling chassis to the guy makin my tank, so it will be a few weeks, but hope to get back to workin on it soon =)

I went a little crazy on the parts, im not as thrifty as some of the amazing builds that inspire me, i went the easy route, but i plan on trying a low budget build for the Wife's future bike (hehehe). I figured since this is my primary id spoil myself a little!

EDIT: Do you have a build thread? We both need to add the link to our sigs!

WHOA! That is a whole bunch of awesome-ness there! That upper triple yoke is SWEET!
Tell me about those rear sets please, DCC? Can you give a part # ?
And what is the "Bikers Choice" round aluminum piece nestled between the front sprocket, headlight, allsballs bearings and the seat?

Ive been able to find some incredible deals for my build at swap meets and on ebay... $5 clip ons, $10 front GL1000 wheel... it is not easy and it takes a TON of patience.

Good call, link added.

Haha, I was wondering the same thing... even zoomed in to try and figure it out. ???

Good eye guys! That is a Pop-Up gas cap and filler neck, picked it up for $50 off of E-Bay, the cap is a raw paintable surface, going to think something up to have it be its own piece but tie in with the paint job i have floating in my head =) push in and twist and it pops up!

Hey HD, the top triple and the Rear sets are both DCC, i picked up the gauge mounts for the triple thinkin i would need em for the 2.5" tach and speedo i got, but they mountup directly without em and i may not use em, ill figure that one out when i get to that point. I got the universal adjustable rearsets after scanning through a thread on here and hearing some good things about em, i might lop off the passenger peg mounts and use that area for a cleaner/sleeker mounting point for em =)

Just saw this, your motor looks as new so its a great start, ive just bought a 79 basketcase and are real jealous of your motor, will be following this for sure

Right on Terry, its great to have you onboard as well, we DOHCers are gaining a little strength, helps a bunch so share our info and whatnot! And you are right, i lucked out, once i tear into the top end we will see what we have, but im sure it wont be heartbreaking ;)

Doc, a lot of the stuff you picked up at DCC is the same stuff I plan on getting. If I had known, I would have told you to wait until you got 100 posts on DTT here to get the 10% discount at DCC. Here's the link on the discount.

http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=39331.0

It's pretty easy, once you get 100, you email them a screen snap. Since you already have an account, they'll just put it right on your account. Maybe if you have future purchases to make you can get the discount. It took me a while to get to 100. I tried to do about 2-3 a day for a few weeks.

im sure you'll find it as good as new, it looks like its been ell looked after, im picking up a complete motor this week so will start my build soon!

Still waitin on the tank and tail, so in the meantime me and the Wife picked up this 55 Gallon Aquarium tank off of craigslist with the oak stand for $75, we tactfully aquired a few pieces of driftwood and made a little jungle gym for her Python, and made the little tiki-hut in the right corner =D Made the lid out of plexi-glass, cut some circles out for the heat lamps and slapped a hinge on it, definately not a master-carpenter but its fun!

Nice CL score!
I am always on the lookout for a good deal on a tank as well, but mine get filled with water ;) . That stand looks nice!

Lovin this build! im in the middle of a very similar one myself, just opened a box from DCC with some of the same parts for my LE. good luck!

Haha, HD, i think fish are a little more entertaining, its a shame my Wife loves snakes (weirdo!), they pop out of their little huts a few times a day and lay around pfff. Im a CL fanatic, always lookin for stuff i dont need for a great deal =P

Thanks JP! Hopefully get some significant progress comin soon, if ya got a build thread throw a link up or put it in your sig, fun keeping track of fellow DOHCers =)
