Very nice work so far. My first street bike was a kz440.

Will you have a fork brace? Maybe the front guard mount was the brace as well? Something billet would look trick and serve a purpose
I don't have any experience in Mikuni carbs, but the OEM Hitachi carbs are 36mm. I saw a KZ440 for sale on ebay a little while ago where the owner had installed Mikuni BS38's from the Kawasaki KZ750B twin (also used on some Yamaha XS650s) and KZ1000 intake manifolds/pod air filters and H-D Sportster mufflers. He said this is how it should have come from the factory and ran super.DohcBikes said:32mm carbs are too big.

I don't have to do homework. 99% of my posts come straight out of my head. Kiss my Fuckin ass if you think otherwise and fuck you for implying that I need Google to post, amateur. Get some experience before you question me while insulting.MotorbikeBruno said:DOHC did you not do your homework this time? You just bash the guy not realizing the stock carbs on this are 36mm. OH and the earlier models were infact 32mm. Could you explain why your conclusion is that they are too big? Sorry today I'm just miffed because I didn't sleep well. But I rarely see a positive comment from you on a new guy's build and that doesn't help people out. You just simply state that's too big, and no reasoning on why. Please enlighten us as I'm always up for learning....
Zap, carry on. I don't think you will have as much trouble as he made it sound. With the proper jetting you can get almost any carburetor that is near the stock size to work, although it's at what ability they work that is the key. Sure those BS38's might have run great...but for all we know, he built the bike, drove it 20 miles and called it good. If you have 1000 miles on a bike with modified carbs, you can then call it "good" in my opinion. Most bikes are built, and the builder moves on without truly testing it, so keep that in mind when you read posts and see what others have done.

I provide answers. I am not obligated to explain.
