I need "stress" in the form of my cousins pushing me on !
I have to say I AM pleased with the way it's shaping up - I'll hit the proverbial "brick wall" when it comes to getting someone to make up the frame. Can't afford a pro job - $1000 +, so it's down to some enginuity and good ole fashioned horse trading !
Pete - yes all in all some progress at last - I could rule the World if I still had my workshop !
Located a pair of 1 1/2" [ 38mm nominal ] matched SU carbs from an MGB in reasonable condition for $40 - so that's the carbs sorted. Just need to get a couple of adaptors made.
Went to collect my Chrome 7" headlamp today - just as the guy handed me the box, the lamp fell out of the bottom - smashing the lens and denting the shell arrrggghhhh.
He was so embarrassed that he supplied the Black version and the "Stop" lamp and brass petrol taps [ Cafe Creme ] for less than the price of the chrome headlamp on it's own ... It's an ill wind etc.
This is what the boyz used to get up to in the day.
100 mph laps rising to 125mph by the 1920's. Durations of 100 and 300 miles were the norm.
However - just take a look at the angle of that banking - which IS wooden boards. Fancy that on a wet day ?
I am in just total respect for these guys - puts things into proportion when the "elite" of Moto GP sat in the pits yesterday " because it was damp ". Not as if they get paid too much or anything.
These pix are posted over on another post - but I think they need sharing. In case anyone is in any doubt why they're called "Boardtrack Racers" - take a look at the one under construction.
Photo credits to Daniel K Statnekov who has written a treatise on the subject. I'm really getting into this Boardtracking - and NO I wasn't there "in the day" !!
That took a lot of balls. Especially on the machines of the period since EVERYTHING was controlled manually. I can hardly imagine taking one of those things down a flat road much less around a crazily banked track. Hell, I wouldn't want to take a modern bike around one of those tracks.

This site is about motorized bikes, but the section on board trackers might bring you some inspiration or ideas on what other people are doing for that type of thing.
I considered doing a bike build but thought better of it. might as well get a motorcycle instead of a motor bicycle.

How about some pix of your projects ..................................... or do you buy "off the shelf" ?
XS650 wheels off to be shotblasted and powder coated. They're not certain about getting the shade of Cream I want, so I might just have them powder coated in a primer.
