i just won a used supertrapp on ebay for about half of what they usually go for. it was listed as a ninja muffler, and the guy thought the baffle was sticking out too much. perhaps he is unfamiliar with the brand. picture from the listing
Re: broke ass slo bike build CM400t prepping for exhaust
i got my supertrapp in the mail. i believe its a brushed aluminum s/c with a 2" inlet and 4" disc outlet. it only came with 7 or 8 discs, but 90% off retail speaks to me. at ~7hp/disc i think i'll have more than enough.
so to get ready to put my 2-1 together, i relocated the brakelight and plate to the left side and made it WAY more sturdy.
then i got to looking at the miscellaneous bits of hardware i had laying around and decided it was time to be able to see through the frame. only took two years...so i rearranged some things and it doesn't look super pretty, but the overall look is adding visual lightness.
finally, i mounted the supertrapp connected to nothing to see how it's gonna look and take measurements.
Re: broke ass slo bike build CM400t New progress on page 7
cobbled together my 2-1 last night. are you ready?
total cost:
used supertrapp s/c - $25 shipped on ebay
broken mtb frame - free
pipe adapter - $3
flex pipe - $6.50
here's them mountainbike frame that was given to me to scavenge components. the bottom bracket was broken off at the welds.
so i took some measurements and started cutting with my dremel
wow, i can see why you have a "thing" about oe seats.... ;D
and i did smile when i saw your old leather jacket laid out for possible usage...
i need to get my seat waterproofed, weathered in and ridden on cos it still smells of "charity shop"... lol
could you secure a metal plate at the back of your seat between foam and leather and bolt in a stop and tailight to back of seat?..think it would look cool.
Nice job on piecing together the exhaust. What size flex pipe is that and did it fit pretty snug around the end of the header pipe also where did you buy your flex pipe at? The idea of using the bike frame as the collector is great. Was that aluminum or steel bike frame-for welding purposes? Great job so far.
Haven't gotten around to getting a proper soundclip yet but to answer some questions
The flex pipe was from autozone. 1-1/2 inch id and it fits very snug on the header. The bike frame was aluminum and about 1-3/8 od which matches the diameter of the inside wall of the headers so it almost slipped right into place perfectly. I had to smooth out the inside of the "y" a little bit
I totally agree on the header wrap. Gotta sell some stuff first
I haven't decided what I'll do about the taillight. I like to reuse as much as possible when it makes sense but a smaller light mounted how you suggested cyclone, would look really good. I'm working on a 1-up traditional cafe seat that I can swap with this one without to much hassle ala martimebiker
Still having fun with the current state. Took my wife on a date last night and she says the seat is a little less comfortable. She agrees that it's worth it though. I'm making some small number plates to hide the battery...deciding on a number
Hey cool build. Like that you manage to keep it running, or that's my impression of it anyways. I've been wondering how I can 'stage' my build so that I can keep riding and figure what I want in a bike, seeing as its my first.
