Got my paper work yesterday from the DOT to give to my bond agent for my bonded title, then a DOT agent needs to come and verify the vin#. Getting closer. I feel better about the $900 I have spent so far on this free motorcycle.
I really love it when the DOT, works in my favor! Just got a call from the Iowa DOT and after reviewing my case/pictures. They do not need to do a inspection on the bike and I can go register the bike.... That just made my day!
The pivot has bronze bushings with bronze washers between the mounts and the pivot.
The idler sprocket 15 Tooth with ball bearings.
1/4" steel for laser cut pieces.
The torsion spring is 27 in/lbs. x .125" thick.
3/8" shoulder bolt for the pivot bot
5/8" shoulder bolt for the idler sprocket.
Overall width 2"
Does anyone have any input on the torsion spring size? Is the stiffer the spring the better?
My thought is that I would actually rotate the arm up 180 when installed. To pre load the spring. That way there is always tension on the chain.
The position shown is with no tension on the spring it would be rotated clockwise to be per loaded. Unless I'm not using the spring the right way.
Ooo So your going to pull the arm around clockwise from its present 9 oclock position to the 3 oclock position. Then the chain will lay on top of it? Gotcha.
should be great. Next time do a pretty picture w the chain installed. It would be less of a puzzle for me.

I am borrowing a compression tester from a co-worker tonight. I am hoping it has good compression, so I don't need to tear into the motor! Fingers crossed!
