That looks great! I would have to move the seat back, but that's just personal preference(plus I'm 6'1").

I believe that is about as far back as we could go with the seat. Unfortunately I haven't been over to see it yet. My co-worker who is welding it for me sent me the picture while i was at work. I should get over to check it all out Wednesday.
I think i should be ok, i knew going into it I would be a bit cramped... p.s. I'm 6'2".. or 6'3" depending on which gas station i walk out of..

On another positive note. I received my new starter block off plug today. And I this one fit perfectly! The company was extremely helpful in making sure I had a product that fit properly. They immediately shipped a new starter plug, plus extra 0-rings(which i didn't need). They even measured there stock to make sure it work fit correctly when i received it! Even offered to pay return shipping on the 1st part. All in all i would recommend this product to other owners. Since if there is a issue it will be taken care of immediately!!

Re: Bucky's '74 CB360 Hardtail Bobber Build

have you thought about using a 21 inch front wheel? xl250 and 350s work with little modification and use's a front drum. i believe the cb350 would still use a 35mm fork tube so you could use the whole dirtbike front end like i did.

CB360 is a 33mm fork. The 21" would look good, but he'd have to (correctly) lower the front end to keep the frame level which would limit travel. Might end up with only 1.5" or so. Again, it would look great but be a rough ride. A drum 19" from a CL350 would be a better bet (in my opinion only).

As far as the seat... Youre going to be REALLY cramped. My seat on my old XS chop was way further back on the (larger) frame and fit me well (5'8") but was still cramped for my brother in law (6'2"). If you run forward controls and high bars it might not be so bad, but (again... opinion only) forward controls look goofy as hell.

Re: Bucky's '74 CB360 Hardtail Bobber Build

I have thought about using a different front wheel.
Right now it the frame is almost level with the stock 18" wheels.
Does the CL350 front wheel bolt onto the CB360 forks?
I have seen a few CB360's with 21" front wheels, and they look awesome. I just haven't been able to find out what wheel they use..

I am planning on running 12" ape hangers, I hoping that will help make it a little less cramped. I'm prob. going over tomorrow to check it out. Then I will know for sure how cramped I will be. And if I need to change anything.
It will definetly won't be a long distance cruiser! But I knew that going into it.

I would like to stay away from forward controls, as much as possible on this build.

Yes. The 19" CL wheel uses the same axle.
Thank you. Getting a CL wheel might be cheaper than getting a new master cylinder.... Since I would need to get one or the other.

Re: Bucky's '74 CB360 Hardtail Bobber Build

Same axle as stated, but you would need to use a low profile tire to clear the fork brace. Don't even think of running the stock front end without a fork brace either.

You'll end up with the bars facing one way, and the tire facing the other.

Thanks for the advice. I was wondering if I could get away with out a fork brace or not. I guess that answered my pondering.

Re: Bucky's '74 CB360 Hardtail Bobber Build

I wonder if you can't use the 19" hoop on the disc hub, using different spokes?

Re: Bucky's '74 CB360 Hardtail Bobber Build

Went over to check out the frame tonight. And suprisingly it is not as cramped as I thought it would be. He also got the tank mounted. The fender will be a shorty fender the will stop right below the top tube below the seat.
Check it out....

Re: Bucky's '74 CB360 Hardtail Bobber Build

Looking a round to get a headlight ordered.
Will a 100/55w headlight work, if I plan on using capacitors, and no electric start?
http://www.lowbrowcustoms.com/p2709/buy/m-c-parts/taillights-headlights-amp-signals/headlights/cycle-standard-5-3-4-quot-diameter-chrome-bottom-mount-halogen-headlight-/

I also need to order the exhaust, I will be going with the EMGO up-swept cocktail shaker mufflers for my exhaust on the stock header, with tan header wrap.

I'm hoping to I will have the frame back into my garage today, that way I can start putting the motor in place and get some of the other detail sorted.

Re: Bucky's '74 CB360 Hardtail Bobber Build

A little update. I got the frame back to my garage. I got the motor installed, but I have some slight interference with the brake arm. I will have to bend that out of the way.

Still need to figure out exhaust, plate mount and head light mount.

Thank you!

I got the big part done. Now it is those little details that is going to take the longest also having the $$ to buy all those little things. So I will just have to buy more parts as people buy parts from me, otherwise I would just go buy everything tonight. Such is life...

Re: Bucky's '74 CB360 Hardtail Bobber Build

I like it except for, as you heard, my aversion for hardtails. Too bad you couldn't do a softtail type suspension..keep the look of the hard tail (it does look nice) without the pain....but nice work anyway.../

Thank you.

I had though about a softtail, but I am trying for a pretty era specific looking bobber when i'm finished.

Re: Bucky's '74 CB360 Hardtail Bobber Build

I did a quick run down of $$ so far, it looking like i'm over $800.00 into this project in parts. Then I did a list of everything I could think of I will need to finish, and that totaled up atleast another $600-800.00 in parts, to get it to the point of having it completly mocked up and ready for painting/powdercoating. This free bike isn't looking so cheap anymore. Oh well at least i'll have something pretty cool when I'm done, and i'm ok with that.
