CB350 Cafe...The 7 Year Bitch! Blew a coil... damn it!

CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making... Getting Closer!

FINALLY thanks to Boom the Carbs are back together, Looking GREAT and ready to go on the bike.

CleanCarbs.JPG

Also been working on some rear sets. I'm not really a huge fan of the aluminum/home made ones, So i'm trying to make them outta the parts that came on the bike.

ClutchSide.JPG

Not that hard with the shifter side.

BrakeSide.JPG

The brake side is forcing me to switch to cable operated. The stock arm just isn't good for reusing in any other way than honda designed, so I got a Duc brake arm cuz it was the most promising at the junk yard. This is where I am right now. Still need to make an armature for the cable on the pedal side. Thinking the wheel side will have it's arm attached to the brake stay. Once I fab it up I'll post the solution!

Any feedback is welcome!

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

sorry it took so long! glad it worked out though. Stock derived rear sets are looking good!

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

So all this snow in VA has really been slowing down my progress!

BUT I did get the rear sets welded up and painted. They are pretty much finished except a final coat on the shift linkage and hooking everything up. I went with a cable hook up for the brake. If I find the right brake lever that can be easily modified I'm going to convert it back to something along the likes of CCrider's mechanical control. I just like the thought of keeping the "original" technology.

Here they are. I'll get better pics when the weather is better, but you can see from the "parts" pics how they came together.

Pegs fold up for I can still use the kicker! Kicker arm clears the brake arm with lots of room to spare too!

Black on black is kinda hard to see... sorry. Look at the Parts pics for close up details.

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

Very cool man. Im doing something similar with my rearsets... The shift side is going to be GP style, which is the easy way out, but its really clean looking so thats a plus. The brake side Im not sure about yet... Your bike looks terrific though!

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

Thanks.. as much as I love snow, It SUCKS not to have a shop to work in! All this snow makes working outside COLD! I even tried starting a fire in my fire pit, but it was still too cold for me. I'd rather be drinkin' than freezin'! AND it's supposed to snow today!

the first time I built this I was working for a Car Dealership in the service/bodyshop building so I was able to have a warm shop with 20 mechanics & body men with tools to borrow as needed. Now I have a 7x10 shed PACKED with all my toys and no room to work in!

I tried to convince the wifey to let me bring it into the house, but she wasn't too keen on the idea (dunno why).

I just want some 50 degree weather so I can work on this thing!

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

Thats rough man... At least your not dealing with this ;):

We have another 6 - 12 coming today... :p :p :p

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

WOW!.. Where is that!?? I would be out 4 wheeling for sure! My bro had 23 inches in DC... Kinda looked like that! That makes my back hurt just thinking about shoveling that snow. At least you have a garage though...

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

Outside of my house. If you look real close you can see my truck. Its the third and largest snow pile on the left... :D Im about 45 min north of Pittsburgh Pa. Makes me want to shoot myself...

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

The bike is looking amazing and with a proper refinish on tohose wheels, it should be a show stopper ;D

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making! (shit.. 7 years now!)

Thanks for the comps! I'm gonna eventually black out the wheels, hubs and sprocket. I want to get the beast running first, then it should only take a week to have them done. I have the 350F to run around town on so it's not like I'll be loosing any ride time.

I'll be sure to post pics in the Show and Shine when it's done!

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

wow, looks awesome! I really like how you kept the rearsets stock-ish, doesn't look tacked on at all.

haha I was actually praying for more snow today, in hopes to get out of an exam. no dice, richmond is safe.

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

Arsey.. Your in Richmond? Where? I'm in the far west end off of Patterson. Let me know if I can lend a hand. I have a bunch of connections around town. body shops, mechanics, powder coating, etc. Your build is godspeed right? Have you painted it yet?

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

looking really nice and i feel ya with the snow.. dumped on again toady.

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

Danka! It's may get up to 50 for the next two days So I'm aiming to get a little work done. Cross your fingers! Hopefully I'll figure out why I have no power. I'm guessing it's the Ignition. I tries to solder an old wiring tail onto a key drum. Don't think It worked out. I'll throw my new one in and see if that works!

Also, Thinkin about changing out the round glass fuse. Anyone have a good source for a plug in type? Should I just go to NAPA and get a stereo amp fuse?

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

are you just lookin for an inline fuse if so then yeah you can go to any of those parts stores and get a blade type inline. there are some sources for fuse panels online with blade types. Good luck

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

So.. What amp rating is the main fuse supposed to be?

Just looked at the wiring diagram I have and I don't see it... Thought someone would just know.

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

That's a good question. I have swapped over all my bikes to the modern inline blade fuse. I'm running 20's in them but I've seen everything from 15 -30 in the ones coming out.

+1 i am running an inline blade style. actually two. one for main power and one for main regulator/rectifier power. i fried one already.

Re: CB350 Cafe... 6 years in the making!

I can't imagine it's supposed to be more than 20 amp.. but I don't know! Someone has to know what the stock amp is for the stock fuse! Anyone? Bueller?? Bueller??
