Chris what size hole do those switches require and how deep are they? Couldn't find that info on the website. Got a plan to mount these either side of the key ignition on the top triple and seeing if there is enough room. I think they would look killer either side of the key barrel for ignition (white) and starter button (red). Is the white very bright? Just wondering if it would be distracting?

Haha, why do I get the feeling that a good fourth of DTT is soon to be rockin these switches? ;D

The switches mount in a 19mm (3/4") hole, with a 22mm nut on the back side. Thread is a little over 14mm (slightly over 1/2"), and the switch + solder leads should have NO LESS than 50mm (2") of clearance behind them. You could make do with shorter, but you might have to bend the solder tabs, and I wouldn't recommend it. They do come with an O-ring, but the backside is not waterproof, so you'll have to be prepared for that.

Quick update. Been busy all week and weekend. Did a 5k bar run Saturday for St. Pat's, then went to Kansas City Sunday-Monday.

Yesterday I ordered my custom triple tree. VERY excited to get it. Should be within 2 weeks I think. Tonight I cut coremat to fit inside my seat shell. Fits very tightly! Now I just have to add the resin and another layer of cloth to the inside, then add a layer of cloth or mat to the outside, and add my light tubes.

Typical that the one winter I get a bike to work on, summer comes in March! :-\ :( I'm half tempted to buy another just to ride while I finish this one! ;)

Pretty sure im about to order some myself thanks for the insight. I will be joining the good fourth.

Haha heard that on summer coming in March. I feel cheated. We never really got a good winter. What's up with that? I actually just asked my brother if I can borrow his bike. I've got all this free time(Spring Break)/nice weather and nothing to ride in it! Keep up the good work. looks like it's coming along nicely.

My triple tree should hopefully be in by the end of this week, and tank bungs will get here Monday. Been working on the tank fiberglass, laid the first part of the female mold tonight, second part will be tomorrow, probably. Here is my seat so far. Needs a but of touching up and filler, but it's super stiff!

I ended up getting some west systems epoxy. That stuff is a LOT friendlier than polyester! So clear, too. You can see my pattern marks from cutting fiberglass pieces out! Two layers of 10Oz cloth, at 45° bias to each other, then 4mm coremat, then two more layers of cloth laid at a 45° bias. Still need to add the frenching tubes for the lights (note to self: make frenching tubes), and get it trimmed down to fit just right and cap the open edge with fiberglass tape. Coming along!

i just stumbled onto this thread today, nice work so far keep it up.

i do have a question about the motor. you did say it started right up and i totally believe that. i just wanted to know what she sounded like? and what you know about the internals? if there has been work done in the 30 tho miles she's traveled. i'd hate to see you have the motor out and and avoid something as simple as a tensioner pulley give out. i speak from experience on that one and ruined an entire riding season because of it.

if you're aware of the above then ignore the following! at least check the oil for little black chunks, check in the valve cover for black chunks and pull the tensioner and look in there at the pulleys as best you can. if you already know to do this, then cool.

looks great!

Heard that. Been chewing my fingernails since the first seat render. Were you at Chris?!

YOU AND ME BOTH! Work has been ri-goshdarn-diculous lately, 50+ hour weeks including Saturdays, then been busy several other weekends. Monday I was at work until 8 (almost a 13-hr day), yesterday I had to meet with a former classmate about our senior design project being picked up for further development by the company. I have decided to set the fiberglass work aside for this week and focus on getting the frame ready for powdercoat, so I can get a roller at least. Haven't heard from the machine shop yet but my top clamp should be in any day now, so I want something to be able to put it on. :) I need to do a bit more cleanup on the frame, then powder coat, rebuild the forks, and get bearings/bushings installed. That should get me pretty close to a roller. Still undecided as to what I'm going to do with the wheels, but I can use the ones I have until I figure it out. Pics later.
