You have obviously built something before this 350, bike or otherwise. Looks great, I'm watching.

Haha! Thanks Blue, I appreciate the watch. I was a bicycle mechanic for a few years. Closest thing I've ever done to really wrenching...

Re: CB350 - Project One

It's looking really good dude, love the pipes and your polishing work is fantastic

Re: CB350 - Project One

Got these iPhone pics sent to me today. I'll get a few quality shots once they're back in my hands.

All Base Coat. Supposed to be shooting clear next week.

Re: CB350 - Project One

hey bud like the build so far. I am working with a 72 cb350. what yr is this one? I wanted to ask you did you need the triple tree to make those 360 shocks work or did you just get it so you could slip the uppers through the top tree? I'd like to retain my current triple tree and just get the 360 shocks. I am curious to the paint scheme can't wait to see it come together. I think i will go with a little more distressed look. Purely out of laziness. lol. Also do you regret cutting the rear of the frame? i am contemplating this but if i am going with a cafe rear i don't really see the need if the hump will cover it up> ....

Haha! Guessing that's a shot at the seat. I wish I could've gone without the front bump, but that's the design I was stuck with since I'm using the oddly shaped CL tank... Overall I kinda like it!

Thanks! It's a 71, which originally came with the older style forks that had the springs on the outside. On that set, the triple is narrower at the top than the bottom and that wouldn't allow the forks to slide through the tree. Also, the 360 forks gave me the opportunity to upgrade the springs with Racetechs. From what I've read, the "newer" 350 triple trees allowed the shocks to slide through... If thats true, then you should be able to make the swap to the 360 forks. They both should be 33mm. If both your triples dont have the same ID, then you'll have to source a new triple tree.

I don't regret cutting the frame at all. I did it intentionally so that I could make the bike look more compact. If I hadn't cut the frame, then I would have gone with a different tank like the 68-69 CB350 tank just because it's longer. The CL tank is short and would look odd with a really long seat covering up all that scrap metal that used to be behind the shock mounts.

I apologize for the crappy pics again. I keep leaving my DSLR at work...

Re: CB350 - Project One (Real pics, wheels back!)

Real pics this time.

Frame, swingarm, and a few small parts are getting powdered. Hopefully I'll have that back next week. Powdercoater is backed up two weeks right now. Playing the waiting game.

Ready to get this thing back together and see it as a whole instead of individual parts! Hopefully this weekend I'll wrap up the seat padding and a few other small items.

Re: CB350 - Project One (Paint, waiting on Powder)

Loving the red white and blue scheme!

NICE s2000 by the way! ive got a soft spot for those too!

Re: CB350 - Project One (Paint, waiting on Powder)

looks killer man. the last picture of the s2000 caught me off gaurd lol very clean tank seat and car

Re: CB350 - Project One (Paint, waiting on Powder)

Very nice work!

I being very picky here, but I think the tank would look more complete if you flat black the tunnel and the underside.

Even if you don't, it still looks awesome!

Thanks for the comments! Love hearing everyone's opinion.

I like this idea. When I first saw the tank I was thinking something similar. My plan is to see what it looks like once I get it on the frame. Not sure I'll have to do anything since you probably won't see any of the overspray. If so, I'll definitely be blacking out the underside.

Thanks for the comments on the S2000, but I removed the pic... Did think it was appropriate for the build thread. Just bikes, right?

Re: CB350 - Project One (Paint, waiting on Powder)

What size tire are you running on the back? I am trying to decide between 110/90/18 or 100/90/18. Bike looks great!

Re: CB350 - Project One (Paint, waiting on Powder)

Thanks! I haven't posted pics of the new tires mounted yet, but I'm running 100/90-18 up front and 120/80-18 rear. I'll post up pics of them as soon as I get them mounted.

As far as the old tires... I have no idea. Once I broke those things free from the rim, they went straight to the trash and were never seen or spoken of since

The grey wheels with the reds tripe look freaking bad ass. Well done my friend.

Thanks Logan!

Never been so excited to see rubbers...

Got this little gift for my birthday this week. Making plans, but one project at a time. That king and queen seat is so badass! It lasted less than five minutes once it rolled into the garage. New thread down the road for this one!

Re: CB350 - Project One (Paint, waiting on Powder)

Can't wait to see this one unfold- extremely nice work thus far!
I particularly like how the jug / head on your engine look with the fins all dressed- never would have
thought of that!

Re: CB350 - Project One (Paint, waiting on Powder)

Can't even wait till the first ones finished can ya? I'd do the same thing if I could, don't blame you at all.

Those wheels and tires look unbelievable man. Great idea. I've got the Avon RR's and they are a fine set of rubbers.

I'm all finished with mine. I called mike wells to see if he would give it a once over safey check for me and he wouldn't even take the bike he was so busy! He referred me to another guy who did some work on my brother in laws bobber called "Dave's cycle works". Maybe I can ride it over and check out your build onei pass the dummy check?
