CB360 Cafe Project

Just checking about something, I am about to sandblast my hubs and I should keep the bearings in until I am done snadblasting right? Might sound like a stupied question, but just making sure. Thanks

Yep. I would take them out. Blast, then install new ones. Chances are you are going to get blasting media in there and that is bad for bearings my friend.

I have the old bearings in right now, and I am wondering if I should blast it and then remove and replace the bearings. just making sure again. Didn't clerify that the old ones are in there. Thanks guys

Either way. It wont matter if they are out and the hub gets blasted or if they are in. Mine were in when I got them blasted. I even forgot to take them out when the hubs went to powder coat and the grease melted out and stained the powder coat. My bad......

A good shop would catch that before coating.

I think powder coat people are lazy as crap. The guys who did my rims didnt even blast them or acid whatever them, and the PC did that seperating thing were you can see little spots were it didnt stick. I am going to touch them up with some POR, but if that doesnt look good, I am taking them back.

I guess it doesnt matter either way I do it. Just which one I do first.

Yea quite BS. The only reason I havent made a big deal about it yet, because I only paided $45, which I got the price afterwards.....for a reason. But like I said if I cant make it look good, I will send them back and tell them to redo it properlly and for the right price.

Quick question, the rocker box/ or valve cover doesnt have a gasket. Or not that I know of. Can you use gasket glue and is that what you are suppose to do? Thanks

That's what I used. RTU Black.
I thought I had black, but had to compromise with blue, no biggy. But I am stupped about how you put the two bolts in, on the rocker box. The ones closet to the points cover. I dont know if I dont have the rocker bolts screwed in all the way or what. Thanks again.

Have a pic of what it looks like? I had all my bolts on top in and then had to take everything out and then when reinstalling them I have one that will not go down the remaining 1/4" ????

Once again figured it out, just needed to use my brain. I am relying to much on this site instead of using my common sense. But I think I know what your problem is, there is two lining up housings(sleeves, found the right word) for the rocker box (they are on the cylinder head) those two bolts that go there are the two longer ones and then the rest go in the other holes. Hope that helps. I kinda suck at explaining stuff.

There are longer bolts in the locating dowel holes.
One of the others is shorter and in the wrong place
The reason bolts won't go in on points end of head, the rocker shafts are probably not installed right.
Pull the rubber plugs inside points housing and check ends of shafts

Yea I finally found a flashlight and saw what the problem was, just like you said. I need to relax about small things like this, I just freak out that I am going to have to take it all apart again and restart, and I realize its not a big deal. Almost werid you know so much about these things. Thanks get well soon.

Getting a little bit of stuff wrapped up. I finished painting my hubs today, which I should have waited a day before getting to excite to lace them up. The paint looks really good, and even better in person. It should look perfect with British racing green.

And Idk what I am doing wrong, need to do a little more research, but lacing up my wheels, I put the spokes in right? I check them a couple times. But it is still super lose, almost like they are for a 19'' rim. I checked them old ones just in case and they were the exact same size.

I also sandblasted some stuff about two weeks ago. I sand blasted my hubs, mastercylinder, and rockerbox/valve cover. I was a little ''ify'' on keeping the mastercylinder and rockerbox just sandblasted aluminum, but I love the look. Its clean looking and not too flashy. But thats also a problem because now that I am changing things up at last second, my whole color scheme for the engine is kinda off. Now there seems to be too much black. I am just going to wait till I put my exhaust wrap on and velocity stacks(yes I bought some sweet velocity stacks, just realize how long its been since an update). But if those dont do the trick I will take off my points cover and polish it. Kinda pissed at it anyways since I scratched it trying to blow some dust off of it.

And yes I know I am a dumbass, all it took to do it right was to look up here for 2 minutes to find PJs thread about it. A new bearing retainer will be in tomorrow, so no biggy, just lost 12 bucks.....and possibly ruined the threads.

Still havent got this snap ring out, It is a pain in the ass, literally almost had it will the special tool I bought for it. But it was soo rusted in place and the hole snapped so now its be a total pain in the ass. I honestly dont know what to do right now, tried drilling it out but it started to tear up the other stuff, so I stopped that. I broke a set of flat screw drivers(craftsmen) and bent a lot of shop picks.

My bearing retainer remover, I found some scrap wood and drilled two holes and screwed wood screws in them. Works great
