CB360 Cafe Project

I'm not sure of the brackets you are describing, but you can't use two rectangle brackets on one side. It will have too much play side to side. The only way I can see to do it is to build a clevis; like what is on the bottom of the original shock and then weld the clevis to the swing arm.
Thats what I was afraid of, I was trying not to weld on the swing arm but I guess I have no choice. I will get some steel stock(square bars) and cut one side out to make a clevis and weld them on, after grinding and cutting the eye off. Thanks and your project is coming along nice.

The bike is coming along nice. You're stealing a bunch of my ideas that I had. I was thinking British Racing Green with a brown leather seat. The brass mesh should look really cool. I might have to borrow that idea for lowering the front end when I get a bike.

Thanks, and I know exactly what you are talking about, when I first joined this site I had a bunch of ideas and saw that some other people did the same thing. I lowered my forks 4'' and makes it look cool, and hopefully even better perform good.

A motorcycle shock on sees up and down motion with a very slight amount or fore and aft twist from the arc of the swing arm and angle of the shock. If the shock falls just out side of the mount on the swing arm,you can run a bolts straight through.I would use a grade 9 bolt, nyloc nut,and a thrust washer between the shock and the swing arm mount.

Like if I were to line up the bottom eye of the shock with the swing arm, were I could put a bolt thourgh it? Thanks for the help, sounds like that will work.

Yes, but make sure the shock doesn't bind and use grade 9 hardware.Anything less may fail.A thrust washer between the shock and swing arm mount will save wear on the swing arm and shock.

Alright will do, Ace the helpful place should have them right?

Got some grade 9's, nylon nuts, and some washers, just have to very slightly drill out the eyes to fit the 7/16 bolts, since they had no metric....Thanks again for the help Ben2go I will post pics tomorrow of my shocks on my bike.

You're welcome.Should work well.I had the same set up on a mini bike I owned years ago.It was one of those tough as nails minis with full suspension and a 5 hp briggs n straton from the 50's.

Bought a dremel and a countersink bit (didnt realize it was a wood and/or PVC  ) But the counter sink did a good 20 holes. I've been working on my fiberglass fender and should have it finished in a week or so. Got my cb350 exhaust collars, or joints to fit using my new dremel.

And if I was ever to make something out of foam again I wold use the pink installation stuff. But the stuff I used worked great too. And if anyone else wants to put 350 exhaust collars on there 360, all you have todo is grind out the holes a couple mm's on both sides and grind down where the nut meets the collar.

Good to know, that is on my list for the next time the head comes off this winter. Makes it look a lot more classic.

Nice work with the fender!

My Licks cycle helmet came in today. I was expecting to get it in October, But I didnt realize I preordered one, instead of buying one. :-[ But the helmet is awesome, stronger than the other ones I've seen, nice price, Low pro, fits on my head perfect, and is pretty light weight. I like my helmet and if anyone is wanting a 3/4's helmet, thats the way togo.

I also mounted one of my shocks, I used some electrical PVC for a spacer and painted it matte black, and I got some 3/8 spacers, that extended the shock mount out so it could be level up and down. And I used Ben2go's advice on the grade 9 hardware.

I will put up some more pics when I do the other side, if anyone is in the same situation.

I love this build! Great inspiration for my 360. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, I like your build too, if I lived in AZ I would have to get a old dirt bike and do exactly what you are doing, Be awesome to just ride out into the desert. Probably not as special to you, living there all the time

That shock mount looks good , not the way I plan on doing mine but a good back up incase mine doesnt work . The rest looks good to.
