Re: CX500 minor bob job - Test ride success, on to final paint and pretty things Up
Thanks Guys. Need to finish the white stripe under the gunmetal and do the other side. The gun attachment is good. It keep you from getting hand cramps when doing a lot of painting. I used almost 2 full cans of the metal flake and without it I would have had finger cramps. Also makes shooting and aiming a bit easier.
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Test ride success, on to final paint and pretty things Up
Kamn, I have been using the viniger trick on a bunch of rusty stuff but the tank doesn't have that much. I think I am just going to rinse it with some wd40 and then rinse it with a little gas and dump that out. I just found some fine rust when I pulled the petcock. Shining a light inside the interior is still pretty clean.
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Test ride success, on to final paint and pretty things Up
first speedo i found in Mph
it has a small dent in the black surround/housing.........dont know if that matters or not? (I need a little more time to go through boxes and find the others I have.....no dent)
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Test ride success, on to final paint and pretty things Up
Nope, sorry I don't have one of those, I will however check the 2 local bone yards, one guy ebays stuff so he may not have one but the other guy, a little farther away hardly knows what a computer is so he just may have one. I'll let you know what I find. I can check one place on Sat the other I will have to get to next time I am in that area.
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Test ride success, on to final paint and pretty things Up
So 2k clear is some nice friggin clear coat! I rushed it a bit and have a few small runs but nothing serious and will likely wetdmsand out. Shine. Holy shit the paint was ok before but the flake under the good clear is amazing.
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Test ride success, on to final paint and pretty things Up
Thanks Guys, It is really smooth as is I may not even bother wet sanding, it would be perfect except the one small sag on the pinstripe, so I may just leave it. I don't think I will ever go back to regular clear, the 2K is sooo much better. New petcock is being pick up today and I have a filter and new fuel lines so it will get mounted tonight and I will get some pics.
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Test ride success, on to final paint and pretty things Up
Thanks, the cowel still needs it's permanent mounts made. Front wheel still needs edge stripped and polished and a few more bits and pieces need to be done but it is about 95% there for phase I. Speedo needs to be mounted when it arrives. I am pretty happy with it and my time out of the equation and it is well under a grand for the bike and all the parts, paint etc.
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Test ride success, on to final paint and pretty things Up
Oh yes, and we got a couple cans of exhaust paint to fix the crappy job that was done, so if I get time before cold hits, I will paint it, if not it will get done in the spring.
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Test ride success, on to final paint and pretty things Up
Ok. Thanks to Kamn i have a working speedo. I filled the tank and took her for a run. 75 MPH was max in 4th gear I could get so some tuning is in order. Need to sort that out but before and after pics are needed
