It certainly does seem odd to not stay to see the final races! :eek: That's why we're staying over until Monday! :D
 
In 2010 we got there Friday and left Monday morning. We felt that we missed too much, so in 2011 we got there on Thursday and left Monday afternoon. It was much more enjoyable, and we didn't feel like we needed another vacation to recuperate from our vacation. ;D

IIRC the attendance was approx 35,000 in 2010 and 50,000 in 2011, that would explain the bumper-to-bumper hell at the entrance. I hope for your sake they add another entrance.
 
I'll be driving down Wed/Thu arriving mid day on the Thursday. Will be heading back north on Monday sometime - likely stopping along the way at Deals Gap or Wheels Through Time - something along those lines (probably Deals Gap this year).

Our time-line looks similar, but no side trips for us. The workplace beckons on Tuesday morning. :'(
 
I will be off Wednesday through Tuesday this year. No side trips for me though, the drive is too grueling.

Looks like I might be "sick" before school on that Friday to head down. Will be there at least Saturday on the new bike.

Any word on a bike show or other get together that weekend?

I may have to car pool with you. I'm not sure I can handle the drive myself.
 
I'm already taking off for a wedding in October so I'll be off the boat two weeks and this just falls right in that two weeks. Oh, I'll be there so will my bike! I thought about towing the RV.....
 
So, as I said before, I will be on a cruise two weeks after the Barber festival. So, I can not get the time off of work to drive down and drive back.

However, if there was some slim chance that I could catch a cheap flight on Thursday night, and fly back on Sunday night. Do y'all think someone could do the following:

1. Take me from/to the airport.
2. Lend me two wheeled motorized transportation while I am down?
3. Give me some frequent flyer miles to help me get a much cheaper flight.

I do not want to miss this.
 
Well, I could possibly help with the back and forth to the airport issue. I'll be down with my brother (SeaGlider), and he's driving us down in his Yukon. I don't have any points to help and I won't have a 2 wheeler to lend though. :(

Justin, I can accommodate you with #'s 1 and 2 I am sure. But I don't have any frequent flyer miles. Melissa will be riding Little Wing, and I will be riding my next project that I have yet to start working on, I probably won't have the kan-o-tuna sorted out by then but the gs should be available as a loaner and you are welcome to it.
 
I can also provide a ride for you. And Lauren can probably help with the Frequent flyer miles. So....what are ya waiting for?

We can pick you up on our way down, but you'll have to spend 3 days at Great Wolf Lodge in Concord,NC on the way.

On the plus side, I'll have a trailer.

Don't worry Tim. Already planning on getting 4 boston butts to bbq this year. Doing a couple more than last year just in case we end up with another suprise guest with entourage.
