Tim,
Im reserving a room now. Are you guys staying at the Hilton again? Is it the "Hilton Garden Birmingham" or the "Hilton Garden Inn - Trussville"

Im getting the links here:

Thanks!

Birmingham.

I've now got my tickets and room reserved. Tim, I wish I were staying at the hilton again this year but my budget (and family) prevailed, so we are staying at a smaller, cheaper, less cool accommodation... but I may show up in the mornings for the ride haha

Yes - I'm booked at the Hilton Birmingham. I expect that shouldn't change - still sorting out event details with the regular suspects, and like last year if we all need to be there at 8AM each morning, it's just easier to stay in the same place, which was the Hilton Birmingham last year because Ducati had a block of rooms and the person who was helping us coordinate things was working with Ducati.

I also have a room booked at the Hampton from the 11th to the 15th, which is the closest hotel and at the top of the list on Barber's page. I booked these rooms pretty much the day the 2012 dates were announced, as there is no penalty for cancellation up to the day of arrival - so why not :)

So if someone gets desperate for a room we can likely sort things out. I know $120 a night isn't cheap by any means and there are less expensive alternatives, but rooms are getting scarce. The two hotels I'm booked into seem to be full, as do some of the local area options.

The first year we came down, I stayed in Pell City at the Comfort Suites. Was a nice 20-30 minute ride to the show each day, and a nice new hotel. They seems to have rooms at $75 a night available which is great for 2 people (AAA/CAA rate).

Yeah I know places are disappearing fast. The room I got is in iron city and it was the last double room at that hotel (the name escapes me but its something like rime garden inn). Didn't spring for a parade lap this time. $30 seems a little steep this year. And kiley, yes I know all the cool kids will be at your house, and im planning on contributing to the blood alcohol level of as many of us as I can :)

Oh crap, Mr. E got that last jar of muscadine. That stuff is rugged.

Hehe, yup... im also trying to get some apple shine from a local guy here. We shall see!

I just booked a room at the Drury Inn Birmingham SE. It's about a minute away from the Hilton an comes to about $100 a night including taxes.

Same here. Just ordered some bits from the Dime. Once they arrive I'll begin assembly of my 6 year long "bike in a box" project. I committed to myself that I would have it ready for Barber this year.

Did the DTT crowd purchase a swapmeet spot this year? I would be happy to supply time or $ to the cause. I just looked onto one myself and saw that they were all sold-out.

Nope - didn't do it this year. Didn't seem to be a lot of interest in it.

Get at it!! ;)

I'm taking mine down to Mid-Ohio for a shake down run this weekend and expect to pour a few more $$ into it along with dozens of hours to get it right for Barber! :)

I thought that's where the gang was going to be showcasing the rebuild of Flugs bike?

HEY - Just a quick note about the Hilton in Birmingham!!!!

The hotel you want is the Hilton Birmingham Perimeter Park

I had actually booked at the WRONG HILTON! Just confirmed with Dime City Cycles etc. that the Perimeter Park location is the one! Rooms available - I just booked mine.

I'm pretty sure that is the one that the Drury Inn (where my group is staying) is very close to. Right near the intersection of rt 459 and rt 280.

Yes, Hilton Perimeter Park and Drury are almost right next door to eachother. It's over on the yuppie side of town where the rich townies like to play. FYI, HWY 280 that it is located on sucks balls. I can give you guys a GREAT ride from where you are staying to the Barber's Park. MUUUUUUCH cooler than the interstate with lots of twisties and all around good times to be had. Best part is it's not much longer to go that way either. My wife works about 5 minutes from where you are all staying, and I ride out that way to see her all of the time just because it is damned fun!!!

Here is the route. You'll thank me later!

That is the route we rode each day last year. Ive never seen more bikes on a single stretch of road with the exception of the tail of the dragon.
