Dust monkey cafe xs 400

Small update,
Managed to finish the rear brake set up, was a drum set up

So different wheel, custom bracket to carry the brembo calliper , custome brake arm to hold it all in place :)

I think the bracket needs a hole putting in it to take the bulkiness away from it and I also need to get the disc drilled to match the front.

Anyone ever drilled there own? , thinking its a machine shop job ???

Cheers Wayne :)

There's quite a few guys that have drilled their own. I think if you go slow, and use enough cutting oil, you can do it nicely. I can't remember how many bits the guys went through though. Try a search to see if you can find it. Or if anyone else has a link to threads I'm thinking of?

You'll find 'em all over this forum and others; get a couple of sizes of good cobalt drill bits, and use cutting oil on a press, and go SLOWLY. You'll also need a template.

Oh ok , nice one guys ;)
I think if I can find someone with just a pilla drill that may just do the job :)

Cheers Wayne :)

I have drilled my own........not that hard, just need to plan properly and take your time. Its a circle so a protractor making marks at different degrees and in different circumferences, and heavy paper to make a pattern to your disk size, then transfer the marks with a centre punch to the rotor and get your drill press going!

Awesome!!
That must have taken ages dude, great results tho :)

That was done on a drill press yea?
Cheers Wayne :)

+1 haha man that is really LOUD! digging your stepping out of the box and going with something wild and crazy.. can't wait for more updates!

I've managed to get a few more bits done over the past weeks,
The one bit I am happy to have done is the brake caliper mount

I ended up making it in two parts from billet alloy,I'm no engineer so I have to make do with wot I have around me , that's my hands and genral work shop tools, no cnc or fancy stuff :(

After lots of mock ups I ended up with the two bits, the idea of two was so I could get it aligned up spot on, then clamped and now tack welded together

I still need to have the thing welded propped but I am at last happy with my brakes,

All from ducati, disc , calipers and master an lever :)

Im thinking of going with the satin black on all this stuff to :D

Cheers guys

And just one more of how the bike stands at the moment
The more bits that go on the more I'm loving this.

I know it's only foam but even the silly exhaust messing makes it look better lol ;)

Cheers

yeah man I really dig the way this thing is coming together, looks long as sleek which makes me feel like the front end you currently have on there is almost more fitting for the bike.

I dig it. My brain says that you will have some squirrelly steering with the front end down that low, my aesthetic side loves it though ;) What's the rake and trail on that bad boy?

Thank you guys :)
Bruno, to be honest all I have done is dropped the front about 2" an the rear 1"
The "look" is done with frame and body position,
The rear half of the frame has all been re made so that it slowly kicks up from the tank through to the back, the tank is stretched 4" an also raised up at the rear on a new mount,
So all this gives the bike a real stance, but most of it is just an illusion ;)

Have a look at some early pics, may explaine better

Cheers guys

Rock on! I'd rather you be safe than cool. ;) Now that I know you are being cool AND safe... 8) ;D Great looking scoot man.

I think that the green is great. I also think a second tone of green on the yamaha boxes on the tank would look sweet.
XS400's for the win.
