Just got back in from getting a can of fuel so tomorrow should be the big fire up whhhooow or the new big bang haha now ive got the umph back at last guess it will need the carbs sync and a few tweaks but gonna be so happy that its a runner
Little bit of an update got her fired up not sync or sorted decent run time on the motor yet, cos ths thing is loud firkin loud waiting for complaints from the neighbours so ordered some removable baffles to help quiet it down a little cos it aint gonna pass any MOT like that :-[ got some airfilter foam to drop inside my venturis to help even out with the baffles, noticed a slight weep from the no3 carb bowl agh ! may be able to sort out without removing carbs :-\ took some pics but now this laptop wont recognise my phone wtf feels like its all goin backwards :-\ :-\ still smiled me face off when she fired up haha ;D ;D ;D
Wow at last managed to get some photo's uploaded from my phone to wifes laptop to a flashdrive then upload to my laptop to post ??? WTF anyhows sorted so heres the latest, so the motor runs all over the rev range at moment carb issues ime sure but with it being so loud ive started making some slip-in baffles, cut some aluminium plate to make inserts that will stay inside exhaust, cut n shaped the ali basically its a ring that fits in the widest part of exhaust which is a little ways down the exhaust so had to cut the ring in half to get it to fit inside then drilled the outer exhaust and tabs I left on the ali rings for fixing thru with rivets gonna seal with heatproof gasket sealer around outer edge of ring for a better seal/ finish . The baffles slide inside and fasten to the face of the rings by using nutserts so they can be undone when needed (like when I get the MOT and take this over the water to Isle Of Man or parade laps . The only baffles I could find nearest the size required (3") came from a guy using them on his corvette stingray ??? still they seem ok and sure cheap enough for fleebay $40 so far ive run the motor let it warm up a few times checking for leaks noises from valve train /cam chain etc need to recheck timing done a couple of plug chops check for air leaks got carbs sync a bit gonna re-do all these once ive been able to nutsert and refit the ali rings and fit the baffles properly so heres a few pics of what ive trying to explain haha :-\ ;D
Heres a couple of pics showing the motor just starting to behave itself but still need to finish fitting baffles and start the sync process again might still need to upjet yet but I just happy she's a runner
LOCK STOCK N FOUR SMOKING BARRELS haha ;D ;D ;D ;D trouble with trying to sort a running motor with a small space as ya see in the pics along with real crap weather ime gonna have to wait till I got some fresh air time hah still buzzing sure now this project gonna see the finish line
yup video to come hope the sound does it justice comes out ok cos ive never heard owt like it kinda panicked it so loud hence all the messing about with the baffles. karlloss the space is so small I gotta keep it tidy or I won't get thru the door haha still soon gets warm in winter not so bad when the weather's ok I can get the other bikes outside for a bit more elbow room
Well just gotta screw in and finally finish my baffle inserts to try drop the db level ,guess they could help with a little back pressure and get her running sweeter as usual not enough room and doing the riveting while still on the bike made a simple job awkward so have had to repaint the mufflers cos they got a little scratched up still they kinda look the part as well as been functional :-\ heres a few pics of what ime dribbling on about ha
Run her up a bit today she's a bit quieter but still got a growl to it, gotta mess with the carbs a bit more cos thers a lot more back pressure now just ordered a scitsu tach cos the original tach cable was in the way of my front fairing stay but it wil look more the part scitsu gets the rpm from ht lead impulse (better come with instructions ) haha
Cheers tune-a-fish not done much more still want to roll her out to see daylight for the first time, got a few running issues haven't even had her on a stand to check clutch/gears yet :-[ but my new rev counter came in so drilled n bolted it into my carrier ready to fit to bike gonna sell the new standard tach to get a few quid back the new tach works of a rechargeable internal battery so no running wires everywhere
Cheers mate just seems to be dragging on a bit :-[ can't wait to finish off the last few bits and get her rolling hope there's no big surprise's lurking :-\ hah need to get a video of her sounds great
