Here we go again....xv920 Turbo?

That turbo off the side of the motor is tits. I would not hide it in fact you should get a flashing neon arrow pointing the fucker out to everyone. Heat may be an issue if you put it under a sheet metal fake gas tank

i think if you hae your intake comeing out, and a ram on the othe side with a exit in the back to keep air flow past the turbo it woud not get any hotter in there than out... would look like a monster of some kind wiht all thepipes coming out of it...

hahahah dig it! also talked to timmy last night in the shop about the turbo... he said NO WAY in the fake tank idea... woudl get so glowing hot it would be insane...

I just read this whole thread begining to end.......while at work. That thing is gonna look damn mean !!
I kinda like the Turbo out the side like that but if you did want to move it, wouldnt it fit down between the center stand mounts ? might be easier for plumbin aswell since the exhaust comes together right there ? If you need a bit more room below the bike for the turbo or the Buell exhaust try a new shock mount on the swinger. Moving the shock mount about an inch lifts the bike almost 3 inches.

I'll be watching this thread for sure. Awsome work !!!

I love this bike. I even love it without the turbo. I'd ride it as is right now. with the turbo, it goes from cool to bad-fuckin-ass. I like it right off the side like you have it. nice and high, maybe some neon arrows pointing to it. some graffiti on the tank that says "Its a Fuckin' Turbo! Look at This Shit!"

on a more serious note, I do like it there. dont know where else around the motor you could mount it. with the false tank idea scratched my only other thought is "remotely" mounted under the tail, but it doesnt look like there is enough space, especially since you narrowed it. The false tank idea might work if you wrapped the hot side and exhaust in that aluminum/fiberglass shield stuff (specifically shaped for turbos) and added some little computer case fans for air movement while stopped. you'd also probably have to have some ducting to throw air past it while in motion as well.

just some thoughts that were runnin' through my head.

Wow, I didn't think that idea would get so much discussion... Now I'm gonna have to build one... Just to give the doubters a big "fuck you". Lol. Seriously, I know it's impractical because of the heat, but what about this bike is practical in any way? Having the turbo sticking out the side is still gonna get hot. I just figured it'd make the plumbing nice and short, plus get it away from your legs. And I pictured something like an old p51 mustang, with the exhaust exiting from the side of the "tank". Cool, no? Of course, the point is moot if you have no other place to keep fuel... Saddle tanks?
No worries, I wouldn't want anyone to build something based on my ideas instead of their own. Where would be the originality?
As an aside, the old ELF Hondas ran their exhaust over the top of the engine, and they worked in an endurance racing environment. No, they weren't turbo, but that's still a lot of heat. If they found a way to insulate the rider from the heat back then, it's possible.

Swaps, it was a great time last night, thanks for coming out my man!
I've been truly blessed with everyone I've met through this forum, without a doubt this is some kind of place! You and yours are always welcome and we will definitely be coming out to Boise to visit. Next time you're out we'll plan a little better and get to have Tracy's fancy cooking instead of pizza. PM inbound sir...

Good deal, I'll have that fork bridge cleaned up and prettier for you, and shipped hopefully Monday....

Love the progress!! Thing is getting a really mean profile, too...................keep it up!

This thing is giving good head. Look at that front end. Would never have thought some thing like that would work but IMO it's awesome.

Bikes like this create such awesome discussions. So much to learn here.

Love the V-motor, a great engine, all cool bikes start with a good looking engine. The bars (and grips) are perfect, with the slight bend they suggest a 1930's board track racer, outstanding. The fairing is also very good. The bike has a Teutonic vibe with the bars and turbo, look's like a Autobahn record bike by NSU or some other German factory from a bygone era. Right now it looks like a 60 year old barn find. You're mining a rich vein here keep it up.

how about you continue to reply with pics and progress ;)

it'll create a vicious cycle that no one will complain about.

Holes are always good. is it possible to slot some of those into arcs or wedges for a little added fun? The word I was looking for escapes me. Adding shiny doodads is "bling". What's the word for the opposite of that? To remove metal adds ....? Can't be "un-bling". Don't know though, I like the sound of that. :)

I'd say, the opposite of bling is taste.
To remove metal adds ... that comes under the heading of "less is more" the great Colin Chapman (ACBC) said "simplificate and add lightness" words to live by or at least build by?
