Introduce yrself, bikes, projects, whatever.

Hi all... Newbie from Perth here... been stalking around for awhile now... Been trying to find a bike to do a cafe project for 3 or more years, but i kept getting sick of looking and ended up with a motard...

Well just sold that and whilst searching for a cafe project bike ended up with my dream bike:)

So many other users from the West?

cheers

Dude that thing looks mint, love the detail and chrome on the airbox. Any plans? it would be hard to mess with it to much...or would it?

yeah dude having trouble with this decision! I think it will definitely be a slow process, as I am loving the look at the moment..

But i have a spare seat pan that i have started cutting down some foam to do a lower profile seat with. Have a set of mini gauges (speedo and tacho), some clip ons... and a few bits and pieces to tinker with.

Runs good! Does the ton with ease... :D

Just found this thread -

I'm from Sydney's inner-west and I've just started on a RZ rebuilt with a Banshee hybrid motor. Will post photos once the build is seriously under way.
My only ride at the moment is a postie (Oz's two-wheeled ute).

The DTT forums have been great for keeping the enthusiasm going during the very frustrating parts collection phase.

Hi All
Another one from Perth! 8)
I have had my well used W650 (dayly drive with over 125000kms) for 10 years with only a couple of mods. There was the ace bars for a while, de-restricted cans replaced with a custom 2 into 1 after a spill but now it has Ventura Norton flats and bar end mirrors. The pic is from when the custom pipe was new.
Since an engine refresh will be needed in the near future I have been gathering ideas for a possible XL250/SL230 based tracker? Late 80's early 90's Sound do-able?
I will nead something When it is time to do the W !
Cheers
Matt

Go the postie bike, would love to do the postie challage ond day!

ferg_69 - did you hear that there is currently a postie bike attempt to do the Canning Stock Route? They are about halfway at the moment - check out www.nadiyaschallenge.org

When I finish the RZ I have plans for a radical transformation for my postie.

Awesome, looks like a tough ride.

There are some awesome postie conversions about, there is a thread on here in the Aussie section somewhee that has some cool/ extreme conversions.

Cheers

ferg_69 - I stumbled across the DTT postie thread a short while back; it gave me some ideas for my little red power(?) house.

Crazy

Pete, turns out the kz uses an electric advance, so most likely this jaycar unit doesn't work. I assume "generate their own high voltage from an inverter trailing a 12V battery" refers to that, so bummer. Will try once more but don't have high hopes.

The unit itself wasn't too difficult to put together so might be worth a shot if you want something quick to put together.

Aaaah bugger! I'm going the Dynatek route at the moment but I'll be coming back to give the HEI modules another shot.

Haha I think I managed to "hot wire" it and got a spark from just touching the wires together, but couldnt get a spark with the CDI from hitting the starter. Let me know how the dynatek goes, I'm trying to avoid spending so much but the Chinese options on eBay don't look that reliable.

Haha well done! Grounding the negative on the coil momentarily is actually a good way to test your coil, HT lead, and plug are good... but shorting stuff out is generally not so crash hot ::)

I just reached a point of frustration with the HEI that I had to do something, but once it's all up and running sweet I will revisit it...

Hey Liam, I'm Bill from Alberta Canada. After a long period of time i just got my KZ 1000 tuned and running perfectly. I was wondering ,do you see them there anymore, how many are around?

Haha well just when I thought I was actually beginning to understand how things worked, I made my worst mistake yet. Now none of the electronics work...but at least from what I can tell this CDI should work. Yay?

...lets see how long it will take to get out of this one...haven't got out of one thing yet lol.
