Introduce yrself, bikes, projects, whatever.

Bugger! Mine's still on the back burner, although I'm some testing and emailing with Lou (the KZ guy who'e the HEI guru).

My suggestion is try his setup from his KZ550 and see if it works for yours.

Mind you, if you have electronic advance then you need something completely difference as the HEI setup is only good for mechanical advance...

Hey all just signed up the other day. I live in Brunswick. Have always wanted to build a cafe racer. Have been spying on eBay for quite some time looking for a good deal.

I just purchased a 74 cb200 drum brake front end. I am doing a bike build off with a bunch of guys in my car club. the rules are that the bike must be under 250cc cost less than $2000 when completed, has to be finished in a year and has to ride around the block. We are unveiling our rides at a hot rod show around sept next year and crowd is going to pick the winner. Also a trophy for builders pick.

Ideally I wanted something bigger then 250 but this was the push I needed to get going. I know all the other guys are going to build bobbers but I don't want to do that. My plan is to build a light as I can get stripped back racer. I'll put some pics tonight if I remember. Will start a build thread also.

Glad to be apart of it guys... And gals.

Tomm

Hey Tomm, welcome.

Pete - I believe the bike is an electric advance - the manual says that for my bike, the timing advance had been removed. I'm not sure if this is the case on your bike, but for mine, if it was a mechanical advance, then I would have had contact breakers as well. But I have found a cheap and new OEM ignitor...just need to convince the seller to send it to me, as he is only willing to ship within Germany...

Well, if it's mechanical advance, you'll have a rotor in the middle that you can rotate independently of the crankshaft and it will spring back into position. If it's electronic advance, it will be locked solid to the crankshaft...

Let's hope you can convince him to ship it :D

Looks like he's convinced =] at least that's what I believe he's said...

Btw, after looking at the rta regulations, how the hell does deus get their bikes passed? From their website, not many of them actually have a rear fender which meets the requirements?

Good stuff! Let's hope you get it and it sorts your sparks out...

As for Deus, yeah well... obviously they know a loop hole or they have a contact who can do it for them. Or maybe they put a rear guard on temporarily for inspection then take it off again?

Lol if that was the case you'd think the rta people would realize after going on their websites. Oh well, wonder if we can use the 'but they did it' excuse...

Hahahahahahahahaa the RTA is a government organisation, doing research on a manufacturer would require "work" and "effort"... you really think they'd do that? ahahhaahahahaha

Sorry, sometimes I crack myself up... hahahahaaha

Hahaha you have a point...
Any idea what happens if you get pulled over?
If getting a bike registered is same as a car's pink slip, you really just have to make sure the mechanic is on your side don't you...

My guess is a ticket and find a friendly mechanic... or plead ignorance and say but I bought it this way and it was registered when I bought it...

Wow rone, she is beautiful. what ever happened to this one?

herrow everyone, slightly retarded to only find the australian thread now. many thanks to the creators and supporters.
i'm a complete newbie, got a '72 yamaha rt360. single cyl 2 smoke. figured you can't get simpler than this. hoping to finish up with a nice scrambler/enduro.

studying full time, finding it hard to sneak in the hours and find enough cash to get things going. currently overseas doing an internship for the whole summer vac, so absolutely no time will be spent on the bike. shit...
very busy next year, but hope to get it all back together and close to complete by the end of 2012!

started here. turned over but no spark and didn't start

Bastards... can never understand thieves... anyways... Brissie boy here, but most Aussies I've seen on here are Sydney based so you should be in good company.

Never heard of the Jack Pine but just Googled it... nice :D

Don't think mine really holds up against that but I'm pretty happy with it anyway ;)

you do understand them - like you said, they are bastards!!
haven't spent much time in brisbane other than my long bus rides inland for footy. all your goddamn schools are 2-3 hours away!! spent 6 years for school on the gc, but not a big fan of the place. other than my friends and family there who make it worth the visits.

you must have some good routes for riding in the sun. lot's o green and nice winding roads.

bike looks great man, heaps of elbow grease. don't have the skills like you but hope i get this rig running by the end of next year. so much work to do!

Yeah I'm not so keen on the GC either actually, down near the border's ok but I try to avoid Surfers.

I'm north west right at the gateway into Mt Glorious, Samford, Mt Mee, etc. so yeah lots of great rides near here :D

Thanks for the compliments on the bike, although any skills I've got were obtained during the build (my first ever) and from the good folk over at the GS Resources. I've still got some little finishing touches to do but at the moment I'm having far too much fun riding her trying to get to the first service :D

Good luck with yours, it's a fun experience I tell ya :D

Welcome! I'll have a peek at your intro thread in a sec...

A DN-01? They just look weird to me... how's it ride? Good to see your wife is learning, can't get mine to even sit on the back at the moment...
