J-Rod's 82 CB750- AKA Giselle

Doing some work to the ole gal the past couple weeks.

Put a sufficient amount of miles on her thus far this summer to see what changes I wanted to make. Getting her ready for a few shows coming up next month, and Barber. Considering getting the body work hydro dipped.

Pulled the engine for a top end rebuild. Cylinders were flawless. Had a couple valves not sealing completely. I don't think the engine has ever been opened before I tore it apart. New rings, gaskets, seals, lap the valves back in, and a fresh coat of paint today. New Tri-Y 4-2-1 exhaust with a Cone Engineering can. Hopefully have her back together next week.

I've about determined this is the never ending project. Do something, ride the piss out of it. Do more, break more.

At this point, with buying a new exhaust system, I will have right at $2,300 in her. That, I can live with.

Neighbors, nor the 5-0 were too fond of the 4 into 4. It was quite loud. So, a new pipe she gets.

Back together she goes. Hopefully take her for a spin tomorrow, log a few miles, retorque everything, and load her up for Barber!

Indeed. Saw it, thought "that looks nifty, let'stand give that a try." I like it.

That's a cycle x 4-2-1 right? Your neighbors aren't going to like the sound of that one either. It's pretty loud. The engine looks great by the way. Can't wait to see it back in the bike.

I've heard a few. They are considerably quieter than the 4 into 4. I should have it back in tonight. Been stupid busy feeding metal into the lathe, loading parts on the mill, and running a manual mill. I need days to be longer. Not enough time to get everything done :-/.

I hear you on that! I don't know where the damn time goes. Seems like the day just flies by.

There she goes. Been dicking with this thing for a few weeks. Couldn't get it to run right to save my life. Rebuilt engine, all new electronics. Essentially a new bike. I was getting ready to kick it off the stand, and it hit me. I have a new pulsar plate. I never set the air gaps between the pick ups and the rotor. Check them, 1 & 4 are at 0.027, right on the ass end of the tolerance call out, and the two cylinders that sputter. 0.032 on 2 & 3, well out of spec. Set them both at 0.016, and boom. Fires right up.
