KH100 Cafe Project

I love the color scheme! and I love the kh100's. I saw one ride by my apartment last night (not cafed of course) and i thought to myself, "that would be a great bike to cafe". And then I see yours on here, and I'm pretty sure its on of the better looking bikes I've seen. Can't wait to see it with the rubber under it.

I think some clubman bars are in your future.

I think you are right!! ;)
Clubman bars seem to be a little difficult to get in Australia :'(, and I didn't want to go with clipons.
Also Gahi, this project has been done to a STRICT budget, (currently spent $1100 including purchase of bike), so unfortunately, those bars will have to do until something comes along, (always looking!!). Should any one in Australia have a set of bars they wish to sell, or if they know of somewhere to source some, please let me know.

Cheers

I'm in Aus as well and just got the clubmans from ebay in the US, cheap and shipped quickly. Since most of the Aus shops want to charge a premium for things like that I've bought bars, headlight, headlight brackets, Acewell gauge and my seat (this was about the same price as local but locally I couldn't get one big enough for the CX500) all from sites in the US or US ebay. Everything has arrived within 10 days and been a LOT cheaper than locally. The only thing I've bought here is new grips and the reverse cone exhaust (and I was told it would take 2-3 weeks to get that).

Oh, and the bike looks great :)

Cheers
Steve

i'm starting to think the converging stripes on the tail section would have had a nicer aesthetic if you stuck to parallel lines like the tank...

I don't mind the bars so much. If you get in a bind, I can ship you some clubmans. I'm always open to helping out a 2-stroker.

Thanks Chris,
I really appreciate the offer mate, but I wouldn't want to trouble you. :)
I will look around a little more (maybe ebay usa?).
I am very new to this bike building, so still researching where to get, and how much? things go for.

Cheers again for the support Chris, people like you make things not so daunting for begginners.

By the way, love the stance and attitude of the RD 8) 8) 8)

Thanks.
(Still waiting on the expansion chamber from Dallas)!!!!! :p :p :p :p

Hopefully Wheels back on this weekend! ;D
Thanks for the kind words.

I'm in Aus as well, I have a set of clubmans that I didn't use. Cost me $60 from a place in Bondi but I have seen them in MCA as well. I found they looked too wide on my bike
(cb175) so I used a set of CBX250 clipons. Any motorbike accessory place should be able to get them for you.

Nice paint scheme by the way, I'm partial to white myself ( even though mine is lime green ).

Hello all,
Just a few more pics.

Really happy with how the front and rear guards look. (sanded until both my arms fell off, and then cleared the chrome).

Looking great,I'm sure it will look killer when you get it all finished! 8)

Thanks mate,
Pretty happy with it so far. :D
Also, I think I may take you're advise regarding the front brake. A larger drum would definately be the way to go.

Thanks all for the feedback and help.

Cheers

Hello All,

Just a couple more pics, 1 of the tail-lamp fitted, and also 1 of the rear wheel.
I would love some suggestions regarding what to do with the wheels ??? ??? ??? ??? (polished all over, polished hubs and rims with black spokes, black hubs and rims with chrome spokes??)etc, any other suggestions would be great.

KH100's are grouse fun.
I know cause I have a couple. Busy uploading pics to photobucket to show you.
I'm over in Sunbury and have a mountain of parts if you need.
I love your work so far and you have inspired me this weekend to drag out my KH125 that has been a never ending project - aiming for xmas to be registered, out and about.
Can help you out if you want to mount rearsets - can show you how its done and provide a template. ZX6 / ZX9 pegs and shift linkage will bolt straight up. Electronic ignition is the way to go and once again I can show you examples. The standard KH100 came from the factory with 9HP. I can show you how to get 24 - you will lose a bit of everyday usability but none the less it will be much more fun. ;D
Keep the posts coming and please don't hesitate to get in touch if you need questions answered or any help. Damn I'm wetting myself! I love to find another person out there with a love for the KH!

Thanks Aido,

I will definately call you for some parts, (speedo and cable). I am also interested in the rearsets you mentioned.
The KH is an absolute weapon as it is.... ::) But a few more horses would be cool. Info on that upgrade would be sweet 8)

Anyway, a few more pics, and a big shout out to seat upholsterers out there!!! How the f&*% do you do it so well?????????? Took me FIVE times to get something I am happy with :-[
