it looks like you've got the glass tube style fuse box there. may i suggest upgrading to atm blade style fuses? i just did it on my bike last week because glass tubes are unreliable and can fail internally due to vibration and such. i got this kit for super cheap, and it's super easy to install.

I'd agree to switch from the glass tube fuses. They'll only cause a random/intermittent problem sometime in the future.

my experience exactly. and they sometimes don't show visually that they have failed. that's why even though my problem was a blown fuse, it took me 2 weeks to get to the bottom of it. they were the first thing i checked but looked perfectly fine to the naked eye.

Re-did the fuses, light switch, and ignition.... the starter button has be wired into the ignition also

Ok, fellas. Not trying to be needy here but I cannot find a gas cap to fit the tank. the tank is off a 1980 gs450s.......... any help

I have got a chrome rectangle one that will work in a pinch. If you have your heart set on the round one try GS Resources and see if anyone might have one sitting around.

Thanks man, I have the 450s tank and ordered a generic gs450 cap...... wouldn't fit. You think that your 450L cap would work on a 450S tank, because they're different tanks?

I know my L cap worked on my newer s tank for a min. wasn't the best solution but the seal and mount were the same and held the fuel in. If you have a pic of the universal underside you have I could tell you if it is the same.

I was going to use this one http://www.jcwhitney.com/stant-oe-replacement-non-locking-gas-cap/p3075613.jcwx

BTW thanks for being so helpful

Not sure about the bike bandit one. Seems like it wouldn't seal and vent right at the top. Worth a try for the money.

Here is the style I have extra:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/suzuki-gs1100-gs1000-gs850-gs750-gs-fuel-tank-GAS-CAP-/281067202900?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4170e92954&vxp=mtr

Here is the style you need for exact fit:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/suzuki-gs1100-gs1000-gs750-gs-katana-fuel-tank-GAS-CAP-/290866304220?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43b8fb94dc&vxp=mtr

lots of cheap options on ebay right now. I can hook you up with my extra (without key) as a temp fix cheap, but I assume you would prefer the round style.

Thanks for all the help Gary. I actually found a round one that should fit fine.

Doesn't it suck how the little things can hold up a project? I suppose thats just how it goes. The bike is look great by the way.
