Louie,

I'll miss your input. We don't always agree but your opinion is valid and based on real world experience. It's a pity you want to leave, and we all get that way at times, and as for "the majority" the less said the better.

You explained in a prior post that you have some serious health issues, so spend your time doing what you get the most out of - life's too short to get PO'd about the small stuff and this stuff is all small stuff.

Alfa, it would have been nice if you had chosen not to respond that way. There's a time to have your say and a time for discretion IMHO.

As a relative newcomer, I can't / won't comment apart from saying I will miss Louie's input, as with Revhead and others no longer with us [ in my short time here ].

None of us are ever so knowledgeable we can't learn from someone else and none of us should be so elitist that we can't / won't pass on our accumulated knowledge to others at the beginning of their journey into our hobby.

I guess we have all asked "stupid" questions at some time in our life / hobby? I know I have.

Our hobby, is for most of us anyway - for life. Forums, no matter how good and truly useful [ as is DTT ] - are transient to us.

Our involvement in our hobby will continue whether we contribute to a forum or not. The forum will continue even if we no longer contribute.

I've departed from several forums when my interest has waned, or when I no longer require the info / interaction. I join most forums to gain specific knowledge quickly. Like various car marques when I have bought a particular model and need answers quickly to solve issues.

Usually when I leave a forum, I simply don't post any more...........................

warning: nasty titties herein

I'm nowhere are tactful or well spoken as Hoof or Teazer or Beach, so I'll dispense with any overt attempt and try to speak clearly (and for the remedial in our midst.....simply).

Graham, your exit here is our loss and I'm sorry that you feel like you need to do so. As the majority has stated here, your input has real value that will be missed. Your unique outlook brought some needed gravel to this place. Never mind that you can take a pile of disparate junk and build an appealing functional motorcycle, doing so with style and cogent thought. Not many can pull that off.

Detractors, what have you contributed to this group? Some Johnny Come Lately with assless chaps and stringy hair? Even less than that meager showing? I'll pass. I've maintained that even with the few really annoying 'tell me how to do my bike build' types, the vast majority here are good guys (and the occasional female too) that are seeking info to improve what they're doing, maybe hang out with like minded folks....whatever. I try to be nice, sometimes are tougher than others.....so I can definitely feel where Swaps is coming from.

wait...... this is the guy who prompted this exodus?

One should know his detractors.......lowest common denominator indeed.

I'm a noob on the site so don't have much room to comment. In all my trooling and asking dumb questions (I will never stop by the way) I seem to keep learning stuff from posts by some "Swapmeet Louie" guy? Take a break if you need to (always a good idea) come back in a bit to give us new guys some learning. Noob at bike building, but I'm not a noob at life! They can never beat you unless you quit!

P.S. Lee, can you warn at the top of your posts if you are gunna show nasty titties. I was eating my lunch! :)

Im with Porsche and alot of the other guys ! If not for guys like you and many others how would we learn what you have learned ? Yes i have asked dumb things and yes many others have also but the ones that learn from you will pass it to next ones asking dumb things etc... I dont know you Lou but every post i have seen of yours A: was to the point B: NO PC C: made sense !
Well man sorry to see you head for the sun and good luck on everything but dont forget EVERYONE WAS A NOOB AT SOME POINT !

I want to apologize to Louie and the board for my post earlier in the thread.

What was meant to be simply a ballbusting joke came across as rude and disrespectful, and for that I am sorry.

Why is it that people have to create a thread to announce they are leaving a forum? It's happened more than once on this board recently. Seems pretty childish.

If I'm out with my friends drinking at a bar and we decide we don't really like the bar, we just go and find another bar. We don't feel the need to get up on the stage and announce that we're leaving.

Hillsy, I suspect that Von was making reference to someone else. I could be wrong of course - wouldn't be the first time.

No, it was for Hillsy, though not meant to be as stand-offish as I now see it was. My point is only that the comment made, has been made, and made, and made... Lets just let it die already gents.

Just sayin what I think - that's what forums are about right? ;D

Although this one does say "Turn your Brain Off and Shoot the Shit" so I'll stop thinking until I get to the next folder ;)

Hillsy: when you're out drinking with friends and some douchenozzle stinks up the joint do you leave without saying anything to your friends?

I was in a bar once that I didn't like. I tried to leave quietly but the bouncer dragged me back and made pay my tab.

leadfoot,
I thought it was funny as shit!

People take this forum shit waaay too seriously.

Funny, yes...I also agree that people take forums way too seriously...sort of the underlying point of my first response to the thread.

Unfortunately my comment was interpreted by some as an indication that I have some sort of bone to pick with Louie, which I don't. I'm a smart ass by nature and the original post was just too tempting for the asshole in me to resist... apologized because my comment was misinterpreted as being malicious when it was not intended to be.

I've been a contractor for almost 20 years, talking shit comes second nature to me. It's all in fun but something invariably gets lost in translation when you try to express sarcastic humor in text. My mistake was being a smart ass on a forum where I have not yet established myself...kind of like walking into a neighborhood bar for the first time and running your mouth to the group of locals in the corner...I was out of line and am man enough to admit it, no matter how funny it was ;)
